Anyone got or ridden a Himalayan?

I would sure like to know what one is since I'm of a curious nature.

Sorry Cliffa...
Anyone got or ridden a Himalayan?

:)

They seem to get pretty good reviews and are very good value (under £4000 in the U.K.)

I need to update my signature as on Friday I will collect a white 2018 Himalayan. I test rode it on Saturday and really liked it. It could do with a few more ponies, but it's quick enough for Switzerland. Build quality seems good and solid, riding position and general comfort very good, the front brake (ABS) needs a good squeeze, but works ok, gearbox is nice and selects neutral easily, controls are light and switchgear good, instruments are pretty good and include a fuel gauge and electronic compass !

More observations to follow...

Cheers,

cliffa.

Let us know how you get on with it. I must admit I do like the look and idea of the bike.
The only reservation I have at the moment is the crap colour schemes, although this also seems to be afflicting new Triumphs aswell.
Lets have some proper colours back !!!!

Bike magazine has a comparison with the Honda CRF450L, the Husqvarna 701 Enduro, and the Himalayan. The RE did not come third!

Will do Sam. I actually like the colour schemes, they are a blank canvas for creativity.

Hi Cliff
I am a subscriber so get it a day or two early - crazy way to date the mag, the April 2019 edition is out 20 Feb to 26 March!
Cheers

I have seen an ad on line for them with all sorts of goodies included. Being paranoid I haven't clicked on it.

Strangely I actually have some of this on my kitchen counter :) Wife says it's "more concentrated" than regular salt!?
Funnily enough when I said to my wife "I've bought a Himalayan" she thought I was referring to salt as well. It was only later (when I heard the scream) that I realized she'd stumbled across the Royal Enfield brochure that I'd left open in the other room

Well, I picked it up tonight, and second impressions are even better. It was dark by the time I left the dealer. The lights are good, all the switches fall easily to hand, and the instruments, well judge for yourselves...

They are actually back lit with clear indices. The LCD display may be a little harder to discern during the day, but time will tell.

There are absolutely no vibrations at any revs, and it just purrs along at 60Kph on a whiff of throttle

Due to the unseasonably good weather at the moment I'm looking forward to racking up a few Km's this weekend:)

Cheers,

cliffa.

Lucky Ba$tard :D !!!!
Compared to the Norton clocks, that console looks like a video game! Tell us what you get as a high score.....

Check out this guys Youtube video series. He rides one from Seattle through your neck of the woods on his way home to Alaska. The scenery is amazing.

I've clocked up 212 Km this weekend, and really enjoyed riding the Himalayan. The fuel gauge is now reading exactly 1/2 full. Here are a few pics..

Believe me this is much steeper than it looks in the picture..

Oh and yes, it was cold despite the clear sky.

Cheers,

cliffa.

Another quick update. The fuel gauge quite quickly went down to almost empty, so I filled up @ 297Km on the tripmeter. According to the manual the fuel tank hold 15 Litres +/- 0.5 litre. Imagine my surprise when I filled the tank to the brim and it only took 10.12 litres !! So when I got home and worked it out it did 29.34 Km per litre, which equates to 133 MPG if I'm not mistaken** !! I need to confirm it the next time I fill up, but it's pretty impressive.

EDIT - **I was mistaken as was so kindly pointed out to me. It's 133KM per gallon, or 83MPG (Imperial)

Cheer,

cliffa.
