Here is a recently acquired Manxman. Will be looking for the missing parts if any one is holding, just located a front guard. This bike has been sitting since 1969, surprisingly the motor spins freely. I will be performing a mechanical restoration only as original paint means more to me than anything. It still has it's original Pipes with the kink for the Tach Cable.

Very cool. Could you post picture of kinked pipe and also seat base?

Nice fine , I have one I got cheap in boxes and is now a long term project but most orginal parts missing so am building mine as a caferacer the blue frame paint was so far worn I have resprayed it black and the motor is no matched numbers but not far off.
Anyway good luck with it and have fun fixing it, do you know why it was sat up for so long if it sat up since 69 means not many years on the road, I been looking for a orginal fuel tank for mine as mine came with a never used alloy tank, finding a orginal one is hard, lots of copy Atlas tanks around from India, won't be going down that road.

Great fine, Ashley

hello please let me know your engine and frame number and I can tell you the day it was built, for an original 2.1/2 gallon manxman tank you need to look on ebay you find two on there the silencer are next to hens teeth to find, My Norton manxman has a set of original silencers and there not the same has the later 650s or 750 Atlas the Manxman had its own set not fitted to any other Norton you have one of the rarest motorcycles on planet earth mate if you need paint codes I have them see the NOC uk web site

Please get rid of the ape-hanger handlebars, unless those were original. I don't remember the Manxman from my motorcycle times in the UK. When I actually worked for N-V, the Commando was in prototype test and my time was all at Wolverhampton. We rarely saw any older Nortons, except for the 650SS they provided for my 45-mile commute. The odometer suggested it had done 130,000 miles from new, but it had never been licensed - still ran on Trade Plates (001JW, I think).

I'd love to know where you can get one of those 'kinky' pipes.

Seriously, I would really like one of those pipes, my Atlas has the angled tacho and the drive cable touches against pipes. Any ideas would be very helpful.
Cheers
Giles

Hello the Norton Manxman 650 were Built for the US market and these Handlebars are the original ones for the bike and the Manxman 650s were to first 650s and you would not have had a Commando without them, the blue metallic is original so is the seat in bright red with white piping these bike are extremely Rare today this makes the 59th one unearthed built august 1961 last batch of three batches, sent to the usa so keep it original as you can just lose the fork extended stanchion , Keep the high rise bars there more comfortable to ride that's why they were fitted in the first place long distance riding , do not spoil a ledgenery motorcycle

Are you sure that the engine /frame numbers are not prefixed by 18 rather than 88. 88 is the designation for a 500cc Dominator & 18 is for a 650cc.
Yes, as I . said earlier it is 18 prefix. Sorry for any confusion.
