IOM Classic TT

Yes, I am. Won't be on Commando though. Wife can pack more clothes in to BMW panniers. We've been for the last few years.

Hi Ian,
Perhaps we could catch up at Jurby if you are going ? I want to hear more about your adventures at Duxford.

I am going, will be at Jurby and also at the NOC reunion as long as the Monday racing is not rescheduled to Tuesday by weather.
Aug 28, 2018
from 03:00 PM to 06:00 PM
Where
Shore Hotel, Laxey, I-o-M

Bikes that turn up are 50 % Norton 50 % others and no one notices. The barb a cue is hopeless and the kiosk on the sea front is where I will be getting refreshments.

Adventures at Duxford???
Apologies Ian, I had a senile moment got you mixed up with somebody on the 961 forum who flew a Spitfire a couple of weeks ago.

I won't be taking any bikes as it's a bit of a schlep for me to the IOM.

Maybe see you & Kommando at Jurby.

I'm going, taking 3 bikes ,will also be at the Shore but on another make as the 3 lads will be on the Nortons, also doing Jurby but not on a Norton as can't afford to crash a pillion bike and leave one of the quartet without transport.

Well its just a few days before I depart, any suggestions for a meeting place and time at Jurby or just PM mobile numbers and wing it.

Just wing it I reckon. I'll have my Access Norton T shirt on. Hopefully it will be T shirt weather.

Just got these of a pal that’s attending

Guys (and maybe Girls), I'll P.M. you my mobile number, It would be good to say hello at least. I don't have an Access Norton T shirt, does L.A.B. or anybody else stock them this side of the pond? How do the sizes come up ?

I'll wear a black "Wiz Norton" Polo with this logo on it..

If you aren't familiar with Wiz Norton, they run two Norton Rotaries, and both will be racing on Monday with Richard Wilson (not Victor Meldrew) and Josh Brookes in the saddle.

Google them for some great videos !!

Hope to see you on (sunny) Sunday;)

Cheers,

cliffa

Roads are closed until 4.15pm today and I am wrong side of Douglas so will be late getting to Laxey.

Friends went from NZ with a couple of old Velos.

Bill and Chris Swallow riding.

The 350 Velo did a standing start lap at 94 mph and went through the Sulby speed trap at 123 mph.I don't know if anyone got a chance to look at the bike but it was very original for 1953 including girder forks.

The 250 did a flying 90.5 mph lap and went through Sulby at about 107 mph.

Neither bike finished - cracked exhaust and leaking float.

I think both would be lap records for Velo machines of those capacities. Both motors and all the 350 were made in NZ including all pattern making and castings.

Chris also got a fourth on the Enfield in the Senior at 107 mph race average.

was the 350 a OHC ?

Very impressive for an old bike !

Yes the 350 is a DOHC replica engine from about 1950 to 52. Everything was made in New Zealand, except for some of the castings made in Australia and the six speed Nova gearbox internals from the UK. The casting patterns were made in NZ.

The 250 is a replica engine of the famous Les Diener 250 from Australia (Eldee 2 now -3 )

Take a look here if you want to know more about the bikes.
