Just a short hello to all you guys on this fantastic forum. I am just embarking on my basket case rebuild after two years of collecting the necessary bits - inevitably, about twice as many as I thought I would need!

My first ever bike was an Interstate (something of a shock when I first gave her the entire wellington boot, but I survived). I kept that for 20 years and have been missing it ever since. The experience of a brief flirtation with a VFR was so boring that I fell into the Commando trap again and so here I am, never short of something to spend my money on and even adding to the economy of the US of A.

In a couple of days, I will post a few pictures of where I have got so far in the project, which is a Mk11a that is on course to being a 920 Interstate (Special?).

Thanks again for a great forum, from which I have already gathered some really useful tips and information.

Welcome aboard! We're looking forward to the photos. (I'll speak for the other members like me who love seeing photos of other bikes). Thank goodness for the internet! Too bad we didn't have it in the 70's.

I want to see close-ups of the engine work on that 920 upgrade!

Welcome.

Hello gentlemen. Yes, I will have a look now at sorting out some photos to give an idea of what I've got and the present state of the rebuild.

Grandpaul, I have gone for the cheap option for the 920 - cast iron liners in the original barrels, whatever suitable pistons Norvil could source at the time (2 years ago) and the original con rods polished and crack tested. Tell me specifically what you would like to see and I will photograph it.

Cheers, Bob
