Sorry jerks site compatible adobe flash player not compatible for iPhone to see photos

Woops sorry Jerry thumbs to big and didn't proof read that was not intensional my appoligys

Jerry's photo pages are great, but more like a culmination of everything Norton, et al. However, there's no commentary or ability to "save as" for those wanting to save photos for whatever reason. Perhaps our gallery could be set up something similar to the one featured on one of our "sister" sites, aka britbike .com ...the forum subject is simply titled "Britbike Gallery". The format illustrates individual bikes, photos & descriptions and offers the ability to make comments. Just a thought.

Here's their forum link:

I think it's a great idea, but I wouldn't put it on Jerry. If I had access to a web page, I'd attempt it, but since I have hughes.net (satellite ISP) I have no web page access unless I buy it somewhere. I'd probably need some help too since my experience is only with the early bikes. I've got the time though.

So now we know why no centralized search able photo archive by owner model modification color or sex and hybrid breedings.

The funny thing is this. If we as forum members could agree on a format, we could start a thread or threads that were photo galleries. It wouldn't have to create extra work for anybody if we could agree on what kind of thread it was supposed to be. Imagine that?

LAB, what if there were volunteers set up to accept photos from members and they were responsible for posting them into locked threads of the appropriate heading?

We could have Commandos by year, by color, Specials, Cafe Racers, Modifications, etc.. (as examples)
A bike could be placed in more than one category depending upon what headings it fit. If it had nothing but a photo, member contact and a link to any thread that expanded upon the build it would keep it fairly brief.

Just some ideas.

Sounds like the search engines for girl fashion models photo's might fit our needs, if such exists. Would have to add a rat bike and chopper section too of course.

Hello everyone,

As usual I have not been keeping an eye on the forum. Les thanks for alerting me to this post. There is much going on.

1) I approached Amal and have just been approved an authorized Amal dealer. So I am awaiting final pricing and will be setting up an accessnorton.com/shop (online cart).
2) The T shirts are almost made and will be in the shop area too.
3) There will be some other Norton Goodies.

So what has this got to do with a photo gallery?

First I can easily put a gallery together. The reason I have not is purely financial. So far this forum uses over 2 GB of space. If I allow 2 or 3000 users to upload photos the forum will use at least 10 GB. I am in the web hosting industry and that is 10 GB of space I could be selling. I need the space!

Here is what I am thinking and I doubt many of you will be into it, but I need to cover costs somehow. I was thinking about a members area where if you are a super member you get extra things:

1) Discount prices on Amal and all other parts in the cart - probably wholesale
2) Discounts on T shirts.
3) Can upload your own photos.
4) With approval can sell in the shopping.

Of course if you are not a member everything stays the same as now. I am still thinking about the best way to make the forum pay for itself.

What do you guys think about this? I am open to ideas and hope you all understand.

Jerry

Jerry,
I will be "Super Member" #1, this place is a valuable resource and I have NO PROBLEM supporting it.

Vince

I too will contribute, this forum has been invaluable and is worth supporting.

I would be happy to send a few bucks this way, though I doubt I would need to post my pics... like me, my bike is butt ugly!

So am I butt ugly but family persist in taking my photo!!!
I too am happy to be #2 super member. Pics of butt ugly bikes is a good thing, in case memebers want to copy (or not) how toi get it like that!!
Regards Mike

Thank you gents and especially Jerry,

My feeling is that choosing and paying to be a 'Super Member' is a logical, fair and reasonable idea. As you say, forum members can continue to enjoy and benefit from the forum for free and if they want a little more that costs Jerry then it's only fair to contribute towards that.

It will of course be governed largely by the cost. I see it as like upgrading your broadband!

I have had so many really helpful, kind hearted and funny responses to my threads (and that's just LAB!) that I would be happy to be a super member.

Congrats Jerry on securing an Amal dealership- and good on you for proposing to share the benefits on to forum members!

My dad used to tell me it was vital in the old days to know someone who was good with engines, or gearboxes or electrics. This forum allows us to do all that and more for nothing. I would encourage other members to support Jerry's idea and make this happen!

my 5 cents :
-keep the forum with all features equal to everybody.
-have a "superuser logo" appearing in the profile of those who make a donation. Min donation 5 USD (or whatever you would think make sense) no max limit ;-)
-superuser logo links to a concept like: "superusers support financially the maintenance of the forum -become a superuser-"
-this will automatically make sure all heavy users of this forum will want to be super-users... and soon will be copied by those that maybe do not use the forum everyday.
-superusers will post, from time to time, messages where they invite the remaining forum population to become superusers.

I would expect most of those who make "some" use of the forum to become super-users even if there is no direct benefit apart from the tag...

ok, it's late. shutting up and going to sleep
