In our info on the right side of our posts, Why don't more of us include the year of our Commando and where we live? It would help a lot with answering questions or discussing problems if we had that info right off the bat.
Oops, just realized there is no line for year of Norton on the right side so how about at least in our profiles?

Why do people list any bike they have ever owned in the last 40+ years - on a Norton forum?

I list only the bikes I own now...if I put all the bikes I've ever owned the list would be quite long.

Most aren't important to Norton owners though.

I only list the bikes I own and ride now. Mostly because on sites like Access Norton, members are old bike collectors and it's a way to network and sometimes help out someone who has a bike like one that I own. I do that often, and have had people help me out or let me know of parts available.

Pretty Handy really.

I too only mention the bikes that I own today.
It is also a good idea to mention our location, this could be helpfull when answering a question.
Locations like "a place in the sun" make no sense to me at all.
Or do some of us have something to hide ?

dunno, but i see it all over the place, comes down to forum rules tho (or lack thereof), or how setup,

this forum has a ltd # of letters allowed in a sig, other forums allow a ton of stuff,

diff strokes for diff folks

I don't see the value of listing all the motorcycles one owns in a signature line, Norton or otherwise.
If I listed what's currently in my stable, it would look as below.
In every post? Not a good use of valuable screen space, IMHO.

I'm quite interested in seeing what other bikes people own and ride. I agree that listing every bike ever owned is excessive but don't see a problem with a list of current ones. The few lines it takes up seem inconsequential in comparison to the paragraphs of drivel that get posted fairly regularly.

Well, I for one certainly did not conceive that people would own all those bikes at the same time.
No more rhetorical questions it seems!
Thanks for the feedback.

In any case, I think members of this forum who've "listed every bike they've ever owned for the last 40+ years" as their signature seems to have been nothing more than a figment of one member's imagination. :?
