So, I put a brand new wiring harness and key switch on my '74 850. Everything works great, lights, switches, horn etc. I want to start it up tomorrow so I checked for spark today and found that I'm not getting any power to the white/blue wire (which is connected to the white wire from the boyer) at any key switch position, which means no juice to plugs. I know I can just hook into the white harness connector to get power for my ignition, but why am I not getting power at the proper white blue wire anymore? Its like I forgot to hook something up somewhere, but I cant find it. I know for a fact that the key switch is wired properly. I've checked it to many times, and its not that complicated.

It has a tympanium reg/rect and obviously a boyer ignition.

I know a solution, but would like to understand why its not working correctly (no power at white/blue)

Thanks again Guys,
Ben

Hi Brly,
Do you have continuity through the kill button? Dirty/high resistance kill switches (PC=emergency stop switch) are very common. Easiest way to test it is to just bypass it.

+1 on the kill switch or the mutli-pin connector under the tank. If you are putting in a new harness I hope you threw away that connector and did something else there.

Are you sure you have connected the white/yellow wire (WY from the kill switch) to white/blue (WU) at the multi connector position below the fuel tank (check your wiring diagram: = WY---connector---WU)?

Brly, like maybe with all your playing about with lights n' switches n' things the battery fell below 12 volts .Boyers do not like lower voltages and inspecting for spark at pulled plugs resting against head n' switching on and off may not produce that desired whiteybluish spark. Also I am told the newer micro blackboxes may or may not spark the plugs visually upon on-off of that new ignition switch. Plus the ground has to be real good too. The white wire you speak of should have a fuse inline to protect the Boyer too. Trace the wire backwards all the way back to battery.Good luck tracing.

Thanks for the replies guys,

I got it all figured out. Everything works great. Awesome spark on both plugs.

I appreciate it,
Ben
