i once owned a toyota

sounds like you had an unhappy ownership experience? I have a RAV4 that I bought new in 1998. 145,000 miles now, zero issues. Best car I've ever owned. Fantastic in the snow with full time all wheel drive.

I use a utility trailer that is 7 ft. long to haul my bikes. They fit in with a few inches to spare. A 6.5 ft. bed is going to be close. You might want to take some measurements or be prepared to leave the tailgate down or angle the bike.

I will most likely end up renting an enclosed 5x8 U Haul that will do double duty...... Haul the bike and with a roll away bed, and some camp gear, be my on site camper. That is what I was planning on doing anyway. Just wanted to keep my options open for a possible haul in back of truck situation.

Yes, an enclosed trailer is very nice, especially in bad weather. I took my 750 down to a club Tech Day meeting this spring, had some slushy roads on the way, and the bike got blasted. All the road spray from the car goes straight to the bike. A pickup would be better, but still exposed.

The problem with those trailers is you need a truck that can tow it! Also I can't back up a trailer to save my life. My utility trailer is light enough that I can just unhitch it and roll it around to wherever I want it.

the good thing about trailers is the bigger they are the easier they are to back up. the hardest thing to try to back up is a mixer like masons use to mix morter, you talk about short!!!

 I think everyone is missing the obvious. What you need to properly haul your Norton is a VAN! Something with nice shag carpeting and babymoon hubcaps. Then everything is inside out of the elements. Possibly a nice enchanted Norton mural on the side.

Seriously, I have a friend who races dirtbikes and has a E-350 van. It works out very well for him.

I've actually been thinking about buying a used van, if I can find one that's not totally shot. I might need a winch to get the bike in though. Trailers are lower and easier to load a 400 lb. bike.

The U Haul trailer sounds like a good idea for the rally.

don't forget the paint job with flower's and peace signs

Incense burners on the walls and windchimes amd stained glass doodads hanging from the ceiling!

Hey now, I have a Dodge pickup; good to me.

Short bed, so the tailgate has to hold up the back half of two bikes, going to a track day at Willow Springs' Streets of Willow, last May -

Here it is two months ago hauling the Commando and the DT-400 to NorCal BSA Owners Club street/dirt weekend. Parked at Paradise Cove, Lake Isabella, CA.

Here it is on the way home from camp after the dirt half of that weekend, on Piute Mountain Road, Sequoia Natl Forest.

I just bought a winch from Northern. 12v, 2000 lb pull, 90 bucks with shipping. #141220 Portable Marine Winch. Best price I have seen. Light, with a remote, you can stick it anywhere you want and pull off Snap Shackles.

that's more than a 60's - 70's El Camino ever thought of even with the air shock's. A friend of mine drove one of those rampage's for a while but was not turbo charged, still liked it as it would haul most of what he needed and gave good fuel milage.

Ha ha. Good one.

It's OEM rated at 1/2 ton which is more payload than many other mini trucks.[/quote]
