To be more serious this time, and follow up to MEHAVEY's post...
Sorted out Amals work extremely well. The 932s (sleeved by the PO) on my 850 will idle smoothly at 600 RPM (though I have the idle rpm set at around 800. They pull like a train through the entire rev range - no flat spots, no weird stuff, no leaks - and, as noted, they will outperform any single carb setup. Yes, it took a bit of work to get them right - all the sealing surfaces were warped from overtightening and there were different jets in each carb (?). Additionally one carb flooded instantly - float level too high - while the other was set so low you couldn't tickle it. But all this is standard stuff with any old carb, no matter what brand. After cleaning/surfacing, all new jets and new jet needles, new float needles and gaskets and some sorting out re main jets and needle settings, I couldn't ask for better running carbs.
I really think you should consider them but, as has been noted many times, we all have different taste and often have different opinions about just what we expect performance-wise out of these old Commandos. Good luck with whatever you decide!
