Is there a source in the USA for Surflex clutchs?

Clutch is to go into an 850 MK2a with an RGM (Clubmanracing) Belt Drive. I'll be going with the 5 friction / 4 metal plate assembly.
Bike is being built up and am applying all the tricks.. teflon lined cable and the clutch rod "O" ring seal kit.

Been searching the web and the usual vendors, but can't seem to find someone that has them here on this side of the Atlantic Ocean.

Did find an eBay vendor in Germany.

Joe Seifert (known on this forum as ZFD) is owner of Andover Norton.

Any US dealer of "Genuine Norton" parts will be able to get the Surflex plates under the Norton part number 060749.

I've used a Krank Vent valve and can't recommend it, it now lives at the back of a very dusty shelf. It stuck closed once causing most of the engine oil to push past the crank seal into the chaincase resulting in a partial seizure and an expensive rebuild. No problems with the XS650 reed valve.

They appear to be ball check valves, much like the ones that fail in oil lines. Can't imaging that the mass of the ball and spring would have a favorable reaction time to breathing impulses.

Clutch question to breather thread in under 10 posts. WIN!

Old Britts. Does that help?

not really, they don't list Surflex only Barnett as an alternative to the stock Bronze, and Fred him self fully endorses the Barnett.

last I heard was old brit's will sell you surflex plates BUT the price is way out of line. your best bet and price is RGM and yes I know they are not in the states. It seems like all the us dealers like the barnett but I am like you and prefer the surflex. are you going to put this in a belt drive? you might also have to get some thinner steel plates from Fred to adjust the stack up height.

I don't keep any in stock but I can probably get them for you from stock in the states. I can get you a price if you want. It would probably be 2 weeks by the time they got to you. I can call and find out tomorrow. Jim 719-646-2610

Surflex plates come from Europe. Buy them from RGM or Norvil. If you figure the price in pounds X2, you will be close to the price in dollars delivered to your door in about a week. Or support your local vendor, your choice.

Now..... do I want the organic compund (S 2125) or their sintered plates (S 2155)

None of the post I can find specified their preferences, only the "Surflex" compared to Barnett or stock Bronze.

note... I "just found out that the Surflex had the two different plate materials for the late 5 plate clutch.

Still need to know info re: sintered or organic Surflex plates

IMHO it is a no brainer. the bronze plates are WAY to heavy and harder on the center hub IE wearing notches in it faster.

I agree with Windy. I replaced the bronze plates in both my 850's and my MkV 750 with organic plates (Surflex or Barnett) and never looked back.

Thanks for all your help Guys.
No one had them in stock, so I went with the eBay seller in Duestchland EU. Ended up being the same price as domesticaly sourced and shipping to my doorstep quicker to boot rather than waiting for it to be shipped to a US / Can source then reshipped to here.
