Where should I move?

Greg,
Try west virginia. Super cheap. Great riding. Not many building rules.

Been looking, but not finding. The Berkley Springs area is attractive, but there are no places even close to what I want - it sure would be good for riding in the Summer there!

That is just that wee bit that sticks out into Forbidden Territory. Look at how the Interstates connect.

Up here in Nova Scotia land is not that expensive , in rural areas you can do pretty much anything you want .... you be a rich man up here , plus there is a concerted effort by Gov. to boost immigration .... my wife’s Mom was born in Globe Az .... weather can test you but glorious summer/fall season , people go out of their way to be nice & respectful , lots of expats from around the world have chosen to live here , still just under 1 million in entire province , not all areas have HS internet , doubt you would choose to live that far out though .... prices vary for established homes on fringe of settlements but I know you would find what you looking for much less than elsewhere ..... plus you not far from your home territory .... just sayin ‘

I won't say anything - just watch this video. What you do is your choice. : -

I live in the best town in the best part of the best state in Australia. Our local federal member of parliament is an independent - not party affiliations - so we get more government grants.

You are right about Nova Scotia .
it is really nice there , along the coast is wonderful . You have to like the seasons .
I have many relatives around the oak island area.
I have ridden my harley all around N.S. many times and just loved the coast rides and some relatively remoter areas , away from traffic and too many people .

GA Update. I ended up driving by myself to see the house 774 miles - split into two days. That was OK, but I had steriod shots in my foot on Thursday so I was in superman mode - left at noon on Friday with the steriods in full effect - probably could have driven straight through. Saturday's half of the drive was hard because the steriods were wearing off and sleeping is a problem when on them so I was sleepy for the drive.

The house disappointed somewhat and the shop a lot. I figure to make it into what I want would take $80k to $100k and about a year unless I spent much more than that. At 71, I don't throw years around like them mean nothing.

I had planned to stay in the area over night but decided to see how far I could go towards home. So, I headed north and got a hotel at 8:30 pm with 475 miles left to drive today. Today's drive was miserable - rain the whole way, worn out and finding a decent cup of coffee was hard!

So, the search continues...

Chin up , something to your liking will turn up sooner than later ....

4" of snow fell last night, after everything being iced over for 4 days straight. Tonight is supposed to get even colder.

This is TEXAS, not "up north"!!!

I am originally from Dallas, now living on Central California Coast. I stay here mostly for the beauty, weather and no bugs, but I do miss Texas. You might want to check out San Saba or Fredricksburg areas. North of Dallas is Collin County, nice, has rural parts, has everything. Drawbacks, like most places in Texas, is high heat and humidity in Summer. Don’t condemn all California. Where I live in northern San Luis Obispo County is conservative, rural, yet close to the ocean with great weather, large farming communities. Like most places, only the big cities are liberal.

I voted for Texas for your move BUT right now it's 0 and 5 inches of snow just North of Dallas. Denver -8 this morning! Been in Berkley Springs, police don't like motorcycles!!!!

Dang cold here in East Texas. Sub freezing temps forecast for next four days.
I had to fire up the tractor and snow plow my drive way .... actually my drive road.
A box blade makes a poor snow plow.

Two passes up the road and then two glasses of scotch 'round the wood burning stove got the chill out of me.

And to think i invited Greg Marsh to come down and look around.

Slick

Yep, 4-6" of snow last night.

It'll be single digits up the teens for the next few days...

Where should I move?

Can't believe you Texans are trying to get me to move from nice warm VA to your winter wonderland :D It's 41f here today - what's it there 15f? Nova Scotia is 32f right now!

I hope you are all safe and have power - cold, especially when not used to it, and no power sucks!
