Sadly this is an example of a long distance purchase reinforcing "Caveat Emptor". No matter how many megapixels the photos have they can not show worn cam lobes, bent valves, bad layshaft bearings or any of the hundreds of other maladies a 30 year old bike is subject to. I suspect we're optimists at heart or we wouldn't be buying these bloody things in the first place (they were none too reliable when new) so when making a long distance purchase assume the worst and get everything in writing including a statement of condition if possible or better yet a warranty. Most reputable businesses will offer something to make the sale as well as keep their reputation clean.
Hopefully you only have an ignition problem.

You could not be more correct. As they say, "you're never to old to learn a lesson". Or was that, "to stop learning." Oh well, as soon as I'm off a stretch of days, and it's not so cold up here, I'll get out in the garage and install the Boyer. I've already rebuilt the carbs and they look it!
