I agree re the tank LAB, but the side panel stripes in pick one are off, they look right when level with the top of the Z plate NOT when level with the top of the side panel IMHO...

Agreed, (as the pics were intended to show the difference between what I would consider to be 'right' and 'wrong' tank striping).

That almost certainly was the reason suggesting that probably more thought went into the design than just slapping on a couple of stripes!

The first example below, the design looks right in my opinion.............

What model and year...

.....unlike like the second example which I would have said doesn't (although 99% probably wouldn't notice :)).
What model and year...

I agree. the bottom pic just doesn't look right. the tank and side cover angles look like they're fighting each other. things flow better in the top pic.

That is because an ill-informed painter painted them very nicely following the edges of the tank and sidecover thinking he was doing the right thing.

In reality, the right thing is to follow that general direction, but with the parts mounted on the bike, and use the GROUND as your true reference.

Same thing happens most often with the sidecover decals.

Even the first pic looks a bit off as its still off the horizontal but not by so much, better than pic 2 but the opposite slant to 2 and less off the horizontal. The best way to get the stripes to look right is to mount the white only tank and side panels on the bike and find the horizontal and mark it in someway and apply the stripes using these marks as the datum.

My painter has me bring the bike over after the base coat is laid on, put the parts on it, and lays it out with a level and painter's masking tape.
