What is wrong with the NOC?

Is the Club holding a poll about it?

No, and despite the age of the internet you cannot vote for AGM resolutions expect in person or by proxy. They only stopped looking at buying Norvil when their own forum lit up with complaints and it became obvious there would be a mutiny if they carried on. Must admit I have a good laugh when looking at Norvil's accounts and seeing the high value put on Goodwill.

All of this over Domi barrels? No wonder Brexit is such a mess and the US government is shut down. Time for a beer.
Anyone ever heard of arbitration? Oh! That would require compromise by entrenched mindsets.

1966 ? but that would mean nothing relating to the Commando (Most likely)
Some of the lustre has gone for me but wonder where they are and how they are stored given their age.
I should be seeing old Jack from Joe Francis this spring, he usually goes to our local old bike club biannual reunion. I'll ask what he remembers.

I believe all of this will come down to a paper trail in the fact that WAS there a legal & legitimate sale of the copyright to Joe Francis which in turn there would be paperwork from him to the NOC. From what I have read the copyright covers among other things, illustrations, which is the "drawings". The copyright lasts for 70 years after the death of the person/owner/business whose work(s) it was - I may be wrong on business but person(s) for sure; and that would be 70 years after the last surviving if more than one.
I would definitely be sure that I had all the legal transactions "paper trail" in order before I went to court.
Much better to keep the family together and work all this out of court. Maybe NOC turn it over to AN and NOC members get discounts on parts, services, etc.? Or vice versa......??

I gotta admit that I'm with Lazyeye6...all this over Domi barrels? I suspect the Oxford English dictionary will now use this as an example for the use of the word, "absurd."

Another Goalong scotch, please! ;)

Selling or transferring the drawings themselves is not re-assignment of copyright. I believe you need a specific document stating you are either selling (relinquishing) or licensing but the transfer of the drawings isn't enough (although it could be implied, which is why we have lawyers).

I appreciate everyone's lively debate on the subject. In the end it's just a conversation, although some have taken the opportunity to be less than civil, about a subject that may or may not even have impact of any of us.

In the original post I clearly stated my view of the subject and this included my own biases. I don't believe I ever stated that I was trying to be impartial and that's my right to have an opinion, just as it's everyone else's right to have an opinion.

Sometimes these conversations will lead to a general consensus and sometimes they don't. We aren't here to solve world hunger or solve climate change, just to chat about our bikes and the things that surround the Norton world.

But this has wound down (I think the Spanish galleon was the final straw :) ) so I'd ask the @L.A.B. or @Jerry Doe lock her down.

Thanks!

Yes Dave you are absolutely correct and maybe I did not convey that in my statement but I believe I did by using the phrase "legal and legitimate". This would constitute some kind of notarized signature on a form from the copyright owner to Joe Francis then same onto the NOC; however the legal path may be in the UK. But, with all that said, all this MUST be a legal transaction, meaning the "seller/conveyer" has to be the legitimate owner of the copyright in both cases.
