what battery?

I found this at Fry's (if you don't know what Fry's is, well, count your blessings. If you do know what it is, I apologize for making you vomit) for $25. It's only 4 amp/hr.

So far I think the lowest rating I've seen advised for the Commando (non-E-Start) was 7, I think.

Not sure if I'd use this one.

Too bad Li Ferric cells can't recharge properly by bike's system.

I used one similar to below, that can slip in a back pocket.
Shop around for size and shape ya like. Get big as need or
be aware can't sit and idle for long minutes,
or stop and go in rain with light and brake on a lot w/o
blipping to keep over 12 v charge flowing. Leaves significant
storage space in battery tray area.

Any model suggestions for a '75 Electric start? I thought a Yuasa YB14L-A2 was the way to go but I'm having trouble getting one shipped.I would prefer a maintenance free one

For a Mk3 you want to load up on the highest capacity electrical power system possible. That means a 3-phase alternator , a 3-phase rectifier/regulator, and a big-ass battery. Yuasa makes an 18 A-h battery, Yuasa YTX20CH-BS, that features more than 300 CCA and will fit in the battery case with a small "adjustment" on the outside lip. It goes for 80 bucks or so online and is a sealed but wet battery. Mine fits nicely in place with the stock, but new, rubber strap. I installed it a year ago, and it has work flawlessly (granted, its only been in place 14 months) through the winter. Regarding battery power in a Mk3, brute force is the way to go.

For kick-start Commandos, I'd go with Brian's choice. I'm really not a finesse kid of guy, as you can see from the paragraph above.
