I suggest our world might become a better place if everyone says what they mean. There would be fewer misunderstandings. So issues might be dealt-with more effectively. EUPHEMISMS can be insulting.

Trouble is Al, it is becoming more difficult than ever to actually say what you mean without getting yourself into varying degrees of trouble !

True story:

I recently helped a young horsey lady who had killed her off road golf buggy thing by filling it with oil.

I mean filling it. Right to the top of the rocker box!

I sorted that and also fitted new leaf spring bushes. Took me 3 hours in a cold dark shed and the skin off my knuckles. No charge to her. This is only one of MANY jobs I’ve done for her over the last year.

Afterwards I tried to explain how to check the oil properly using the dip stick. She kept on interrupting to explain how / why she did it her way and arguing against me.

I was very tired so probably was a bit sharp, but I told her that none of that mattered, there is only ONE way to do this.

I later learned that she’d told all and sundry I was rude, aggressive and sexist.

And you know what… that’s absolutely fine by me… coz that’s the end of my free help !

"They all do that..."

One of my favorite acting talents ever...

Eddy..we called customers like that droplets. Amazing they can even walk and talk at the same time. Rather than cut her off. Next time she needs help with the golf cart tell her that adding valve grinding compound to oil will help it run better.

Some people just don't want to listen, you can give them the right advice but still they do it their own way, at lease you done your best to help, but always comes a time when you just have to give up trying to help if you know they not helping themselves to understand, free help can only go so far.

Reminds me of a bloke at work
He wasn't the most mechanically person
He passed his car test when he was in his mid 40s and bought a car
It was all new to him ,he'd never had a car or motorbike
He filled his engine up with oil right to the top of the rocker cover 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Also I bought a tiger 110 project bike from frank parrot motorcycles in Battersea (anyone remember them?)
The front forks were seized,or so I thought
I was pleasantly surprised to find the forks full to the caps with what looked like 20/50 !!!
Drained them down and they were perfect

You’re mean !

I wish her no harm Mike, on the contrary, I genuinely wish her well. I’m just done helping.

BUT, because you TOUCHED IT, you will be mentioned evermore, and not in a good light.
Sad, where things have gone.

I live in a house where there are 5 females every second week, and 3 on every other. I am the alpha male, so I am always right, however I very often find out they know what they are doing. My wife is smarter in any ways, than I am. So if she has to do something technical she usually presumes she knows as much me. The kids are good. The youngest one is 8, and a genius. Yesterday she asked me if I could arrange drum lessons for her. I brought 'Drumbit' up on my computer and showed her how to use it. I was doing something else for a couple of minutes, and when I looked around she had it on her own computer and it was playing drum solos.
I always encourage the girls to stop them from becoming self-limiting. Kids from dysfunctional families are supposed to be disadvantaged, however these kids are extremely highly-motivated.
When I managed laboratories, I preferred women to be the leaders, - If they fall short, they let the sisterhood down. - cynical ? Men do not have that problem.
The secret with managing anyone, is you need to out-think them and stay ahead of the game. I am always systematic, but I do not divulge the system unless I want to become redundant.

Nigel sent it off track. I became interested in his comment. With women, I always say what I mean, unless I intend to upset them. Any innuendo is usually detected by women.
