Very true and until we get aircraft to be capable of some type of self generated propulsion like you say we are still in the floppy disc stage of this evolving technology ....same goes for ev's

I saw a news article the other day from Ukraine...this guy never has to worry about sporting his knuckle dusters again
Simply pull the starter cord.... charging cue problem solved...totally reliable in black outs as well 🙂

I reckon 'life size' Scalextric track is the answer!
They dig up the pavements round here at the drop of a hat for broadband, so two grooves down each road shouldn't present a problem :)

The new London black cabs are fitted with a generator so they can get to the airport and back
Buses are charged at the depot by diesel generators
So it's all pretty normal really

No that's not a good idea!
I am not climbing over the back of the sofa any more to find my car and put it back on the track

Yes, but think... The only 'servicing' needed is removing the fluff and pet hair from the axles once in a while..
 
Volvo penta used to sell a small diesel motor for smaller boats...but parts became scarce and bloody expensive...untill a auto wrecker i know discovered that the same block that was in those English black taxis was what Volvo used at that time...except the motor was painted Volvo green. Lol

What about when you had the track up the stairs ?
Or in the garden down to the pond?
 
The articles comment about finding you car unplugged is off the mark for Tesla’s at least. The plug is locked in place while charging.
