No reply from WebCams so, does this cam require radius lifters?
Do you think this might be going a bit overboard in a street bike?

PM Comnoz, he'll answer your questions, and get you a cam.

As I understand, it does NOT need radiused lifters, but a 3 0r 4 inch radius may be used to soften it.

If you are referring to BSA lifters, then no, this cam is not for use with those.

It is quite an aggressive cam, many would suggest something milder (12a) for street use.

But it depends what your looking for in your bike.

I have a 86C/12C making its way to me from Jim as we speak for my 920 build.

Are you building a cruiser or hot-rod Don?

If its a hot-rod / café racer then use it!

yes a bit of a hotrod, which will have lots of innovative and interesting goodies, I was planning to
keep the engine fairly stock , Amal Premiers, crank mounted ignition standard cam . I have a 560-000 in
another bike and happy with that cam and setup

As I understand it, the 86C/12C makes more power 4,500-7,000 rpm.

It also needs higher CR.

If that’s not what you want, prob not the cam you want.

yes, I may stick to a stock cam, certainly nothing wrong with them. Crap ethanol only fuel here where I am
so I like to keep the CR low. 5 speeder going in.

The 86c12c is basically a 2s Combat cam. It works ok on the street but it should have around 10-1 compression ratio to work best.
It can be run with 4 inch radius lifters to soften it a bit for the street. Then you can drop the compression to 9.5 to 1.
It will not work with BSA lifters. Jim

thanks Jim, with the poor ethanol fuel here ,probably better I stick with a stock cam and lower compression
