I installed a Lucas marked 3 phase stator in a MKIII this spring with no problem. What part of it didn't fit?
Perhaps they state that because the MKIII original equipment is single phase and a three phase requires other modifications - Podtronics or similar. Just a thought.Oh it fitted, because apparently it is not genuine - ask Wassell's, I have, and they have allegedly been made the same since 2008. And they clearly say their 3 phase product will not fit a MK3 Commando. I smell something in the air!
Your guess is as good as anyones. The red vs green box needs a good search on companies house.Red box?
Green box?
Which is the Chinese made stuff?
that helped me to understand the progression.@concours both are Wassell using the Lucas name under license.
Wassell were using the Lucas 'green box' design up until a couple of years ago when, following a request from Lucas Automotive, they were politely asked to differentiate themselves.
It was at that point that they started a rebrand and moved to the Lucas Classic 'red box' design
However, there is still a lot of 'green box' product on the shelves of shops and webstores.
Norton requires long stems with long threads for the front. Long stems are not a problem, but long threads are only needed for Norton
Sorry, correct. I should have said "mostly needed for Norton", not "only needed for Norton".And T160 front (19-1368).
