Valve Spring Suggestion For Web 312a

Unless he has changed things recently, Jim has gone back to a stock cam for his 924 ? cc road bike. He found that it gave the greatest midrange power. I imagine he is also expecting that it will last longer than his last bumpety cam did. The early demise of that one prompted the oil testing, iirc.
Just spent an hour reading old threads on camshaft problems/choices.
Most interesting.
I have a very boring life when it comes to camshaft stories. And that is a good thing!

My drivel below should offend somebody:

Mind changing would not surprise me. Strong mid-range on a Norton is a good thing. I doubt Jim C is getting any younger. Bouncing the tach needle off 8000 RPM is fine for racing, but not so much on the street when one's reaction times are slowing down a lot. Message box heroes that say their reaction times are the same as they were when they were in their late 20's probably were never riding as fast as they think they were.

Riding above 7000 RPM in every gear (even on the plodding Norton) on the street is not that easy to do, unless there are no hidden driveways or cops within a 50 mile radius.

Those beehive springs work on a street bike, but so do the dual springs.

Regarding performance parts... The cool aid is out there, and people should be careful which flavor they choose to drink.
