Hi All. My cyl head has been re-worked for big valves. Should the valve spring bottom cup sit on the alloy of the cyl head or do they normally sit on the shoulder of the valve guide?

Cheers & thanks in advance for all replies.

I have seen it done successfully both ways.

Stock -the cup rested on the cylinder head.

I prefer to rest the cup on the cylinder head as it gives more room for a taller spring but, it does mean one more step to machine the spring seat to match the guide angle. Jim

Hi Jim. Thanks for that. Yes , I would rather the cup sat on the head as otherwise it won't be supported properly, I will prob have to make/fit shims under the cup to get the spring fitted length within spec.

Cheers, Paul.
