The war hawks are at it once more. Convinced the world should be made over in the image of the U.S., for after all, they know what’s best for you.

There is one thing of which most Australian politicians are aware - it is highly unlikely that there will be a change of government while the nation is at war.

Terrible. Had higher hopes for all of us around the globe this new year.

It would be nice if the only shots were at the range or hunting for a change.

One must ask the question, what was an Iranian General doing in Afghanistan ? As if he was up to some good - very doubtful.

Undoubtedly true Bernhard but taking him out in Iraq, where he was more vulnerable, let’s the US off the hook somewhat. A strike in Iran at this General by a foreign nation would absolutely have legitimately led to open warfare. Ditto with the Iranians hitting US targets in Iraq. Not striking sovereign nations allows for sabre rattling and raised tension but not war. Just look at the response when the US was attacked on home soil - now escalate that to a state sanctioned attack instead of ISIS.

I think I read somewhere that Soleiman played a large part in destroying ISIS. In the Australian forums there were questions about whether this was an assassination, however the American media simply seemed to call it an assassination with no real attempt to justify it. Makes me wonder about the ethics and morality involved. Sounds like another 'weapons of mass destruction' to me.
It is really strange, I feel OK about America doing this - but if the Russians or Chinese did it, I would condemn them. I think I must have a 'goodies and baddies' mentality.

The Trump administration stated that Soleiman was responsible for the deaths of many American soldiers, Boris Johnson says he has blood on his hands, yet so far there has not been any real evidence from the Pentagon to prove this... it's like Saddam Hussein and his WMD all over again!- some years ago all the Western World Leaders came to the conclusion that it was wrong to carry out assassination of other country's top brass- -whoever's they were. Then along comes Trump who rips up this gentlemans agreement and goes his own way. . . . You know the rest.

Don't forget, the Saudis had a bone to pick with him as well. I'm sure more than a few Trump tower apartments were recently "purchased" by Saudis. A few thousand Saudi bookings at Trump Hotels. Perhaps a couple hundred new Saudi "members" of Mar a Lago.

In return they get Solomeini out of the way, and renewed US military presence, dedicated to advancing Saudi interests. The same Saudis who funded 9/11 and murdered Jamal Koshoggi.

And here's a bonus fun fact:

Trump Org. Knowingly laundered money for the revolutionary guard throughout his 2016 campaign. Working with a specific IRGC branched tasked with obtaining missile guidance systems for ICBMs targeted at American cities. Solomeini was his counterpart in Iran. The Trump organization openly acknowledges this.

Do you have ANY evidence for anything in that post?

Haha, yeah yeah I know I sound like a conspiracy theorist, wish I was. Unfortunately its all true, with SOME speculation based on previous behavior (presented as my opinion). He has bragged about Saudis buying his properties "we get along great, they buy a lot of my properties" and now he's selling troops to them.

Saudis booking hundreds of hotel rooms in Trump Hotels following election:

It really doesn't take much to connect the dots, journalists have been doing it for years.

Indeed journalists have been doing it for years, making stories up against all sorts of people, falsely accusing people in the newspapers of murder when it was subsequently proved by the police that they were innocent ( well in the UK anyhow) we are unlikely to find out if the proof was ever there on some on the high up positions about their behaviour because it has become an official secret and the information is locked away for 50 years, when by then either people will have either forgotten about it or are dead.
