Very nice. Mine was actually British Racing Green when it was new.

No show bike but it has been a faithful companion over the years......

Banff National Park is still in Alberta last time drove through. Plenty of twisties there off the beaten path. What about Jasper, Yoho National Park, Glacier National Park above Montana ect. There must be something there to enjoy.

You live in Alberta not Saskatchewan. The old Banff Coach highway from Calgary to Banff is pretty fun.

The Norton and Duc shot is several years old before the AM26s came out.
Well, I think I have loaded up the board enough for one day.
Maybe I can figure out how to link my photo album and I won't have to bore those who aren't interested.

printertim, Thanks for showing your bike, I am impressed. Mine is a 12month 1969 fastback in bright iridescent green fiberglass. I like your red but I could not change mine even though the green is not my first or second choice as it is still in good condition. If I had kept my 1st Norton I would have changed the colour by now but with this one I have a long way to go to catch up to your length of ownership. I dont think I will break your record as I would have to last to 100 years old and still be riding. For the record I painted my 750 Atlas bright metalflake purple.

Thanks for the kind words........
The old Norton has been thru several looks over the years....
Check out this very 1970s metallic tangerine with black and white striped cable covers....

The photo isn't as good as I thought....Oh well!!

The red was done in about 1990 but I have some gas damage on the right side of the tank and am in need of a repaint but have put it off because if you shine one place up the rest begins to look kind of scruffy so I think I will wait until I can do a complete cosmetic redo.

I have been picturing it yellow with black/white checkerboard stripe down the middle ala the new Thruxton :? Whatta ya think?

I would like to see your bright green fastback how about posting a pic?

As requested a picture or two, very hard to get the colour right but it is close. On the front porch running to make sure the oil leaks I had when I 1st fired it up are fixed. It looked like a flaw/cracked head but turned out a cracked oil feed line to head dripping and running every where mixed with small leaks from the cam end plates. No leaks at the engine now just a weep from the site tube on the oil tank. Have not been able to locate tube like the origonal and the clamp is tight. May leak oil when I register it and ride on the road.

Yes I do like the Thruxton with the black and white checker down the middle. Thought about swapping my R1200GS for one but I would not last long at the wrists, the GS is more user friendly and I have the Norton now when I feel like reliving my youth which was spent on Kawasaki Mach3 /Mach4/Honda4/Kawasaki900 after I traded my 750 atlas on the Mach3, I know now which one I should have kept like you and its not Japanese

Has anyone tried fitting the 90/90 Road Rider under an early Commando front fender such as on the "S"? These have been great tires on the MKIII and I'd love to put them on the S when I get it back together soon.

I put a 90/90 19 roadrider on the front laced on a wm2 rim
I put a 110/80 18 roadrider on the rear laced onto a wm3 rim
The setup seems to work OK, I have lowered the bike 1.5'' also...
If anything the steering feels abit lazy, maybe tending to be a bit slow into the corners. Straight line stability is good.
I would give the tyres a thumbs up for all round use.
I put the same roadrider tyres on my Triton, and would have to say the Avon supervenoms were better there, Much sharper response, but not much life out of the rear tyre...

I just mounted a new 90/90 - 19 AM26 on my cafe racer to quicken the turn in a little. This bike has a production racer front fender which is off for painting at the moment, so I'll grab an early narrow chrome fender from the loft tonight and check clearances for you. I won't be able to check the rear stay clearance because I have Brembo 4-pot caliper. However, the front stay and the bridge mount should tell the story.

I have 100/90 on both ends of my 1969 Fastback and I love "em......I did have to tweak the fender braces on the front to increase the clearance a little.

I just tried a couple of narrow early Commando fenders and a couple different narrow fender stays on the front wheel of my cafe racer. There is plenty of room between the 90/90-19 tire and stays without bending.

This was on a WM2 Akront aluminum rim with a disc hub, but that should not matter at all.

Thanks for checking! I had put a later model fender and stays on this bike some years ago to clear a K81 front tire and it was possible under very aggressive braking to have the fender hit the exhaust where it wraps around the frame tube. Quite exciting. I'm glad to know some modern rubber will work with the proper fender.
