I think people are usng Podtronics now.
I just installed the 160w Podtronics on my 73' 850 Commando and after a short ride I checked the battery voltage and it was 12.89 volts....I was a happy camper!
I mounted it on the RH side of the battery box and the wiring was long enough to reach that part of the harness that used to feed the regulator/rectifier. A nice looking installation and I kept the rectifier and Zener in place, but unplugged to keep the OEM look. You can't even see the Pod because it's black and it blends right in with the battery box and should get good air flow as opposed to mounting it underneath the seat.
I got the Pod from old Britts and it was $50.00 + shipping and it was delivered promptly which is the type of service that you can expect to get from them.
I highly recommend the Pod and Old Britts.
