To me, building something like that would be an exercise in futility. Going fast in a straight line means nothing, especially on a salt lake. If you are at high speed and something gets inside your braking distance - that is different.

Because the time taken to change the AMC gearbox after each run limits the potential for fun!

With only 2 engines supplying the power, it should last for 2 runs!

That is the kind of set up in the 3 engined bike pictured, but the OP refers to a 2 engined Atlas! .....with an AMC box....which can't always be relied on with a single engine!
