TVS 961 RECALL....

As we seem to have strayed from the "TVS 961 Recall" thread, am I the only one still awaiting my bike? Notified that it was heading back on the 27th April (before i ever saw the bike), Insured on that date ready for my collection of it. I have been told that the repair has been done, but no date for delivery yet. Anybody else on here waiting for their bike back.

Where does it says it’s designed for petrol with no more than 8%?
As I mentioned, ours is a minimum of 10% and up to 15%.
As Eddie said, it’s possible mine may of evaporated, but I’m also wondering if the combination of heat and ethanol are the cause of effect?

My bikes are also in a climate controlled garage when not ridden.
Could it be possible how your bike was also stored? Or the tank vent not allowing pressure to being released when being stored in a hot environment?
TVS 961 RECALL....

I’m asking where it says no more than 8%
I haven’t seen it advertised anywhere, on any brand of bikes I owned.
A technician told me years ago (2016) that the fuel tanks were designed from Acerbis that the spec. was no more than 8% ethanol.
Now it’s up to you to do your homework and find out what the spec is now.
I have an aluminium tank in my 961 so this is now no longer a concern of mine.
Happy riding whatever fuel you use.

That’s a pretty strong statement from someone who has not seen the damage that Ethanol did to my tank..
The Accerbis tank on my 961 was designed for petrol with no more than 8 percent ethanol.
Travelling in Europe it was sometimes impossible to obtain petrol with less than 10 % and sometimes only 15% was available.
I always thought my Commando 850 Interstate had a Glass Fibre tank , I'm sure that's what the factory advertised, and if so maybe that's another part of the equation.?

Looks like just me waiting for my bike then

Still waiting for mine to be returned they have had it 3 weeks now I think.
Originally they told it would be returned in time for the TT on 26th of May . They didn't pick it up to after the TT . I should have cancelled my road tax and insurance if I knew it would be of the road this long .

Mine was collected Friday 13th. Now been away for two weeks. The driver told me on average the bikes are being delivered back after two to three weeks. I think you'll hear from WMB rather than Norton.

I know it causes traceability issues but I would have have a stock of correctly built up units ready to fit as a buffer while the units remover were re-engineered......

Strayed?? Fourteen pages of nervous hand-wringing, conspiracy theories about shipping companies, and dramatic laments over not getting a wallet. This thread already reads like a therapy group for neglected Norton 961 owners. All of this could’ve been a two-page memo, but here we are, still debating if the bike will return before the next solar eclipse. At this point, I'm half-expecting someone to start a GoFundMe for their emotional damage.

Sorry its now 15 pages

I think iv got PTSD or maybe ADHD . Or maybe just a empty space in my shed. Anyway it will probably rain for 40 days from the day I get it back..

'unit' ? The fix is to use the correct thread lock on the starter gear retaining bolts.
Yep but remove, clean off old evo-stick or whatever they used, re-assemble, wait for cure - makes more sense to have a buffer stock...... Or am I just confusing the task with common sense.....

My 961 was picked up 3 weeks ago to be corrected by the factory. I have chased Norton to get an update but they palm me off to the courier. I called WMB who have the bike at their warehouse, I know this because I have a tracker on the bike. The guy at WMB was excellent, I gave him my name & he committed to delivering my bike back to me on Monday. So much better service than Norton who don’t even answer their phone.
