TT Closer to the edge

Watched the TT in 3D at the theatre a few months ago, a must watch for any sports junky. Took my girlfriend who is marginally interested in bikes, she thought it was fantastic
Regards mike

I picked it up when it came out on blu-ray/dvd. Its region coded, so I was only able to play the dvd through the computer. Stupid regions! However, bloody good film :D

..WOW! You gotta get this and watch it!..

Imagine a football match where each time a player blunders , or the keeper lets a goal in , he is mutilated or quartered in front of the cheering crowd .

..

where! where! that sounds awesome!

guess i'll have to stick to MMA and watch them beat each other silly!

If this is sport , than the gladiator fights where a sport as well .
230 deaths and counting .
You may watch , but I won't..

oh poop, are you saying mororcycles are dangerous, I'll have to sell mine and stay home wrapped in cotton wool.
Every rider at the TT knows the dangers, and choose to race it - never seen a single rider forced to get on a motorcycle and race

you aren't, by any chance, involved in government are you?

as far as the helmet question, it depends first on the laws of the state I am in, second on how I feel, and 3rd on the riding I am going to do. Sometimes I wear one, sometimes I don't - my decision, shouldn't be anyone elses to make for me. Stupid not to? maybe, but damn it feels good.

Of course motorcycle racing will always be dangerous ( remember Simoncelli ), but that shouldn't stop us from making it as safe as possible .
Racing between concrete walls and buidings is madness and should be forbidden ][/quote]
I raced at the MGP for years (same circuit) and done the TT in 88, best circuit ever, a total buzz, agreed there is a high price to pay but don't stop it!! Otherwise we as many others say will sit at home wrapped in cotton wool, I think there are many more people killed out walking in the Scottish hills!!

I'm going to spectate this year for the first time since I had a carreer ending crash at Creg na Baa in the 1990 Senior Manx despite saying I'd never go back, its real racing as far as I'm concerned

Hi Ludwig

I respect your right to have your say on riding the Island but hopefully it will continue to run & people will have the choice to ride or not.
I have known people who have lost there lives there.
Still holds a place in my heart.
A fantastic piece of film making
Chris

I still remember the hysterical reactions in the British motorcycle press when people like Barry Sheene refused to race in the TT .
Talk to the widows , or to the riders who spend their lives in wheelchairs .

sorry ludwig , but as a tt fan (been on the island 5 times so far ) i cannot agree
the first time i was out on a racing outfit i nearly took my head of on a lamp-post ( my mistake ) but it never made me stop racing
i like to go fast and i do know it might be dangerous but if yu go out on a track that is what you want to do ; go faster than the boy next to you , even if it is your best friend ( they mostly are for that very reason )
even on the roads that is what i want to do ; take that next corner faster than the previous one
is that not what motorcycling was about in the first place ?
if not , should we not go out and buy a CRUISER and look at the scenery while riding our MOTORCICELS
the TT is a killer but when i saw MC GUINESS flying by this year ,it made me realise what amateurs we are
i modified mly commando to be able to keep up with that jap crap , and when that proved to be too expensive I swtched to DUCATI for the very same reason but whern out on the bike i do nt ( and do not wish to) think of the risks at stake

If you want to spend your time wrapped in cotton wool and stay in your comfort zone - not prepared to face fear or take a risk then you are already dead, so what does it matter?

I don't know... The Magnificent Seven knew the risks as well as anyone, and he called that circuit for what it was.

IT IS a great sport, but lets keep it safe as possible for everybody.

I keep thinking we're domesticating our self as a race to the point where we'll be so conservative that we'll have lost something that defines us as human. Just the way I think I s'pose, but there are plenty of people that seem to want to voice their opinions on these matters recently in Aus: Herald Sun, Fox and SMH.
I guess it's only a matter of time before the TT is stopped, cigarettes become illegal, prohibition is re-introduced, motorcycles are banned and cars are fitted with speed limiters. I imagine the propaganda will be so successful that our descendants will look back at us and think those that indulged in activities like these were barbarians. It's a future I'll fight against.
