I suspect my timing has moved, plate loose in timing chest, lost my TriSpark instructions.

From memory, I believe I need to put on center stand and in fourth gear nudging rear wheel forward to rotate motor until the red light comes on when looking at the TriSpark inside the timing old points cover, and help me out, when the light comes on do I go to the left side of bike and look in forward primary inspection hole to see what, 28 degrees?

I just tried to strobe it but could not even read the degrees, I think the timing is too far off and I need to get it
going stationary and then strobe it.

so is my above procedure correct and does the light supposed to come at 28 or 30 or something?

when I do get it there what do I rev the motor to in order strobe to see what degrees fully advanced?

one more question, I know the ignition has to be on but can I remove the spark plugs to make rotating the motor much easier? and if so do I have to have to have them grounded on the head while looking for red light or can I just take the plugs out and let the leads hang?

much thanks in advance if you can help with this!!

When I set mine I turned the motor over to get the 28 degree mark lined up first and then rotated the TS stator plate as per the instructions until the LED lit.

When I finally strobed it it was less than one degree out, so it's a good method :)

You should check the accuracy of your gauge in the primary cover with a degree wheel, mine was off by 3 degrees

thanks everyone, got it done

and thanks Matt at CNW for taking my phone call to tell me that turning the stator plate clockwise advances the timing

and also for taking my new order at the same time and getting it shipped yesterday!
