I have read all kinds of good things about tri-spark electronic ignitions. How much easier your bike starts than with Boyer etc. Does anybody on this side of the pond have any experience with it. With a bad hip the kick start in not my favorite form of entertainment! :x

As nobody else has answered this so far, although I'm not on your side of the pond (I can't quite think what difference that should make?) however, I've just ordered one from the new UK supplier, so I will let the forum know how I get on.

Les have you got yours from the supplier in your link?

If so, could you give me an indication as to the cost? I might buy one of these whilst I have my Norton down.

Regards, Reggie

Yes, he e-mailed me yesterday to say he'd just got some Commando units in stock, (you may know Brian 'bonnietiler' from the TOL forum?).

£165.00 total, (inc. delivery by Royal Mail)

Les, thanks for that. Yes, I do recognise "bonnietiler" from TOL forum.

Hi Guys , I got my'Classic Twin' straight from Tri-Spark for £156, (exchange rate varies), but I got hit for a customs tax of £28, well it was £20 but these nice people at Royal Mail added £8 charge for a customs collection fee or something, so if you can get it from a UK supplier it would probably benefit you, there was no UK supplier of 'Classic Twin' when I ordered.

Thank You. I meant no dis-respect by using the term this side of the pond, I was just hoping someone knew of a supplier in North America. :D

Les,

I must be missing something, I don't see any link to a supplier?

Would you be so kind as to put a link to the UK supplier or a name etc.

Many Thanks

Kevin

His eBay 'buy it now' price for the Commando Tri-Spark is £165.98 inc. the postage.
I guess I got the 98p knocked off the total price as I dealt direct with the seller?

So as not to bore folks I won't repeat my post, but I just fitted a Tri Spark to my Commando engined bike. Check out Shaking Down an Old Dog in the "Other" bikes section.

A mate of mine brought my Tri Spark direct from the shop In Adelaide for my T150. With him haggling and bringing it over on his hols it saved an awful lot of money.
Regardless of that it has turned my triple in to a different animal especially in traffic. If it does the same for you Norton Boys you will be over the moon.
By the way anyone know where SLE 588R is nowadays ? Cheers Chris.

Sleepless in Seattle, installed Tri Spark yesterday

I orderded mine direct from the Tri Spark manufacturer, Steve Kelly, in Australia. It ran about 210 Bucks US, includng shipping and arrived in about 10 days.
Turned the 850 Commando into a great machine.
I could never get the left carb to run right with what now obviously was a faulty boyer. I know I could have fixed the boyer, but it was over 15 years old and always giving me issues.
Thanks to all in thre Forum who hepled me diagnose this issue as an ignition problem not a carb problem, back in January.
The thread was " left side pipe cool to the touch"
I'm getting one kick starts, even in 35 degree weather, smooth idle at 900 rpm, and good acceleration through the gears. bike sounds better too.
I'd say it is definately worth the money, and a very clean and easy installation.

Just to confirm safe arrival of 5 jolly Classic Twin Commando ignition kits, in stock now...Also, imminent arrival of Hi-Power Tri-park 6 and 12v coils.
Now, I must find the combination to my money belt to pay for the blighters!
Cheers
Bonniet :D
