Trans makes whining sound on deceleration

If I've understood, one thought ocurred: The manual calls for 70ft/lb (off the top of my head), but I have read recommendations to reduce that to 45, to avoid damaging the circlip. Which torque setting were you using?
I thought we were talking about the diaphragm circlip?

If its all new parts and you just replaced the 2nd gear set than what age are the rest of the gears. As you also changed bushes and bearings and you confirm the whining is in all gears then either the 2nd gear set is the issue (they still spin in all gears but with no load) or a bearing is suffering. I replaced a gearbox main bearing on a B40 and used a CN not a C3 clearance, result was a vibration on the over-run cured by going back to C3.

Relying on the owners 3rd hand description is fraught, get the bike back and diagnose yourself.

Yeah anyone that doesn't do their own wrenching is bound to be an unreliable source for knowing where the noise is really coming from.

You need a shop truck for pick up and delivery. :)

Correct...I need a shop truck. I have 2 more bikes to deliver. One I can ride then take the commuter train back home, the other is on the Canadian border 2 hours away. Nobody appears to have a truck.
The rest of the gears are the originals in what appears to be good shape and no galling on the teeth. The bearings are all new from A/N. I really do need to see the bike myself.

My 68 tranny has had a whine Sence I’ve owned it. My 70 is quiet. I like the whine
