88 year old Tt racer Tony Geofery died last December. He beat Mike Hailwood to a British championship by one point and was the first to be lifted by helicopter in the TT.
First i have heard the news of his death, RIP.

I remember Tony Godfrey still racing in his 40s during the 1970s.
He was a Thruxton 500 mile winner in 1961:

(Edited 30/6/20, Wikipedia had an error showing Tony Godfrey as a 3rd rider for the 1959 winning bike. I've corrected this on Wikipedia and have also found a picture of Tony which I've added).
1961 Thruxton 500 Miler Winners - Tony Godfrey (in leathers standing behind the bike) and John Holder (sitting on the 649cc Triumph).
Tony Geofery

Ride on Tony.

the Daily Mail article has a good picture of him racing, but then say it is from the IOM, which I don’t think it is, looking at width of track ....! then they go on about fatalities at TT ( space filling by writer)....

Bernhard, can we at least pay him well deserved homage by getting his name right ? It is Tony Godfrey.

The helicopter was mentioned on one of the TT soundtrack records
