Does anyone know how i would get a title, or something to make it legal to put on the rode, for a commando that was in a barn for 30 years and no idea who the original owner is.

NC has people working on a Barn Find legislation to make it easy to obtain a title for a derelict vehicle. Let's hope it passes and spreads to other states.

Texas takes about 30-45 days and about $350 depending on the purchase price stated on the Bill of Sale (required), to obtain a fresh clean title.

The more backup documentation you have, the smoother the process.

The bike has to PHYSICALLY be in Texas, you must be a Texas resident, and you have to haul the bike to the local police station anti-theft office to have it visually inspected and the numbers run on the computer.

Also, look into a bonded title. Not sure of the details, yet but I know a few that have done it.

I have a title for a KZ400 that was signed incorrectly and it was from an estate. NC is a stickler for all the t's crossed and the i's dotted and notary stamps on everything. I plan to go to the DMV next week and hopefully get this one through or I will be going the bonded title route.
