Ah...the usual BS myth... I raced H2 then and own NOW both bikes. Have ever rode any of these??

philippe,ah the usual BS myth,thats what i thought when i read your post but did,nt like saying it ,as you asked me a question i feel obliged to answer it ,and the answer is NO THANKS i never rode the h2 750 but i did ride the h1 500 ,quick in a straight line but a camel everywhere else,the h2 was only marginally quicker,just a bigger camel,ive rode lots of nortons from one of the first 88ss thru 650ss to 750,850 commandos,so i know who the BS is

I think this is the oldest picture I have of me on a bike. I should also have some much earlier shots of me and bikes, but haven't found any yet. This is me in my first set of leathers on my first race bike, a real PR, at a Willow Springs club race in 1982. The leathers were a set of zip together flat track style that I bought when I started racing the PR in 1972. Real state-of-the-art, with quilted horsehair padding.



And this is the oldest picture I have of me with a bike that shows my face. This in the pits at Daytona for an AHRMA race somewhere in the mid-1980s.

OK, so this isn't a bike picture, but at least it's a British vehicle. This is me with my wife and new daughter in our 1952 MG TD in 1960. Stylish, huh?

Year of picture? Probably around 1991-2. So I would have been early 20s? Had a respectable job so no long hair or fuzzy face.

Bike is a 1973 Interstate. My dad has it now. If everything works out I might even ride it to the INOA/NOC rally next year from NC to NY.

Maybe one day I'll get it back and do a ground up restoration.

Yours truly (in green) on a Maico 490 twin shocker at a grasstrack in County Wicklow, Ireland, in 1982. Sorry about the poor quality scan. We interpreted grasstrack loosely in Ireland — any dirt bike was eligible and we just tore round a circuit marked out in a big flat field — great fun! I jumped the start and got the rope tangled in my front wheel. The bloke crouching down is the ever-patient start official disentangling the mess :oops:

Me in 1965 as a High School Senior with my 1950 500CC Indian Warrier with TT pipes.
Indian in 48 decided to get into the lightweight bike market.
Acquired a company called Torque Engineering that was developing a single and twin.
Had reliability problems associated with weak main bearings (Combat!) plus British pound devalued allowing British bikes to have price advantage.
Indian folded in 53 partly because of the money lost on the lightweight attempt.
My older brother bought bike as a pile of parts and we put it together. I acquire bike when he returned to Canada where we came from. No money so on a shoestring but easy to work on.
Had it at college but needed a reliable commuter with carrying capacity so sold.
Very light bike and didn't have any problem keeping up with newer ones.
Would love to still have it fully restored.

The second picture is my 72 Combat restoration that I just finished the paint work on. I'll eventually put on the before and after thread more complete picture history. A pleasure to ride.
