I have been following the Barber Vintage Event thread with great anticipation of being there again this year. I have to say I am somewhat amazed that there seems to be some animosity towards the INOA. The Norton community is very small but made up of a group of serious enthusiasts. The North Florida Norton Owners go to great expense, organization and time to organize Norton Hill for all Norton enthusiasts. The camping area at Tram Stop 3 is all Norton again this year. We provide a luncheon for all Norton folks at a nominal fee on Saturday. Remember this camping area has no electricity, water or any amenities so it is a large undertaking to feed well over 100 Norton folks. I will be at the Motorcycle Classics show and at the Norton Hill functions and am looking forward to seeing fellow Norton enthusiasts. I would encourage all Norton enthusiasts to enjoy all that the Norton community has to offer at Barbers!

No animosity here, I've just missed out on the INOA scene previous years, this time I'll be sure to stop in.

Now I know I don't post as much as I use to so some people won't catch my hint of sarcasm.

The point is that an AccessNorton meet up is not about the INOA. Since the two don't overlap there is no conflicting scheduling. But they shouldn't be mixed. In fact for the Norton folks at Barber you can do both! Double your pleasure!

PS: Ordered my shirt! Jerry promised on a stack of holy scripture that it would be here before I leave next Tuesday!

Hello fellow Nortoners!

We want to personally invite all of you to come visit us at NORTON HILL.

Over the many years of gathering in Daytona for the Vintage Races we have with the help of our other Norton owners, racers, riders and enthusiasts moved our "Turn 6" event to Barbers. Daytona no longer has Vintage Races during Daytona Bike Week.

"Turn 6" is a Norton event to meet up at and talk Norton. It was created by NFNO and GANOA back in the late 80's to watch the Vintage Races and support our Norton racers, now we have involvement from NC, AL, VA, TN, FL, OH, GA, WI, SC, MI, Mexico, etc., all helping not only "Turn 6", but for Norton Hill. Over the years we have made numerous Norton friends, many will be camping with us at Norton Hill and we would love for you to come visit us. We are at Tram Stop #3. There are Norton people there from all over the country and some from overseas. You never know who you might meet there.

When we started "Turn 6" I asked everyone that came to join us for lunch to show me their Norton enthusiam, some had it on their shirts, hats, pins and others showed me their INOA card. It has always been a NORTON gathering spot for everyone to talk Norton.

"Turn 6" will be on Saturday starting when the racers get their lunch break. Nortons, Food, and Beverage have brought us all together and we want to keep the tradition going. Come join us!

Why not change it to "Turn 14"? Not as sexy sounding but less likely to throw people off!

Norton Hill will be a great place to meet at right after the AccessNorton meeting up at the Bike Show!

It was created at "Turn 6" in Daytona over 30 years ago. When we did the first one in the Fan/Club Zone at Barbers 15 years ago we kept with the tradition "Turn 6", everyone knows you can meet the best Norton enthusiasts there and talk Norton.

We wouldn't want something as great as Access Norton to change their name either.

Norton's bring the best group of people together. We are all looking forward to going to Motorcycle Classics and seeing their fabulous tribute to 50 years of Commando's too.

What if the URL for the forum was www.bobsoldmotorcyle.com? That would make it hard if you told everyone it was Access Norton. :|

Not to worry, I'll go stand at Turn 6 at Barber and direct any wayward Norton owners.

The featured marque at the Motorcycle Classics bike show on Saturday is Norton, shine 'em up and show 'em!

'Pa' and I will be there again this year, riding down from Cincinnati leaving on Wednesday.

I'll put my trusty Norton in Saturdays show but where is that located?

Motorcycle Classics will be in the Fan Zone, hopefully in the same space as last year, just slightly right at the foot of the downhill access road, usually the big Triumph tent is just to the left.

Ah, the best laid plans...

My sidecar ride fell thru, the regular rider was able to get vacation days.

AHRMA is turning out to be no help; I haven't got a parking spot on the premises (never mind one with room for a trailer), and a wristband pass for my wyfe seems to be out of the question. All this after forking over a FULL YEAR NON-REFUNDABLE MEMBERSHIP (I was told a single-event membership was out of the question).

So, I'm having the 3 clients come to my already-booked motel near the track and collect their bikes.

Why did you think that AHMRA was going to be of help? They run the racing and that's it. Barber manages everything else.

And yes, they don't have single event membership.

You can bring a vehicle into the park, although you have to pay extra. It's just way too crowded to have cars anymore.

What do you mean about the wristband for the wife?

Back when I used to race, I could have up to 2 "pit crew" with credentials including pit pass, and a parking pass for myself with trailer.

Now, I get zip, although I was told it "wouldn't be a problem".

Anyway, I'm over it and moving on. Hey, I had two good race weekends and one FANTASTIC race weekend there (not to mention the other half-dozen times I visited the museum, and the two times I saw the old location).

Those were the days...

The Official 2017 Barber Thread

2008, Novice Historic Production Heavyweight, clinched 5th in championship (20 racers in class)

The Official 2017 Barber Thread

2008, Formula 500, clinched 3rd in championship (29 riders in class)

That track is just amazing...

So are you coming into the park or not?

Don't know yet. When I check in at AHRMA HQ (Hampton Inn, Leeds), I'll know what's what.

We're booked to go to Memphis the next day; my wyfe has dutifully dragged around for three race weekends, and we've taken the kids and grandkids around the Birmingham area & zoo, so she wants to do something different. Since Birmingham to Dallas is the same distance southerly with nothing to see , as it is northerly with Memphis, Memphis it is.

Getting on the plane tomorrow on the way out! I probably overpacked but that's ok!
