The GREATEST BIKES in the world!

Ah Dave, but it really was the R71 that soldiered on almost unchanged. True also BMW didn't have the first layout like that. I'd love to see a picture of your bike!
You are right about the Chinese machining, just about like 30s English stuff I've worked on.
The bad part is now I buy Honda parts from China and they are top notch with proper supervision and tooling. The small shops just don't do a modern level job.

By the way I don't think we are here to critique folks websites. Heck of a lot better than my website I don't have.

I've seen a farmer, his wife, thier kid, and a trailer with a stove on one of those Hondas. They drove it to town an set up a stall everyday to sell cooked food.
All that aside I do quite like all those old handmade English bikes. I've seen truly odd fits of parts though.
My real favorites are almost any old Norton single, Vellocettes, and Goldstars.
I can't get behind an Ariel square four as an engine designed to cook both rear cylinders seems odd.
One of the most enduring designs has to be the prewar BMW R series. From the mid thirties to still in production today.
The Royal Enfield single soldiers on too in modified form.
The Brough Superior would have a vote of mine too evn though I've only seen them in shows.

Hi Cookie,

Let me rain on Norton singles. Have had two: '57 model 50 and '61 ES2. The ES2 is disappointingly slow, so guess what the model 50 is like. Commando forever. :)

When I have a website, currently scheduled for 2012, it'll be a humdinger and put all previous websites to shame, this one included.

If I were everyone else, I'd declare defeat today and go play parcheesi or sumpthin'.

Yeah. All your base are belong to us, MOFO!...

Don't you think you should learn how to put up a proper web page before trying to start some kind of contest? I'm not even talking about design just basic html. Everything is jumbled on Safari.

How many votes from biased people do you realistically think you're going to get with that website?

Look at this website and how tastefully and professionally it is designed. Maybe you might want to ask Jerry or another pro for some help before you attempt these bombastic contests?

Of course you could volunteer to clean up the code instead of rag on it.

I don't do code. But if I did, I'd make damn sure it was decent or hire someone or ask for help before I made anything public. And that's nothing to  about. Unless of course you want to volunteer.

I just did. Up to Paul now.

Way to go! That's team spirit Dave!

I use safari too and the over lap is annoying.

I've had my web name reserved for 10 years however I've never learned to build one yet so I'm not about to complain.

That website was thrown up in a couple of hours, immediately after securing the domain name.

I've got plenty of time to dress it up (I use Firefox to proof the finals), and I have a couple of folks volunteering with banners and such (I don't do code either). I use a $19.95 software program, and just wanted to put something up to start getting visibility and word-of-mouth.

So what's your excuse for your homepage? How long has that been up? Because it too suffers from the same issues.

Visibility and word of mouth in pre-beta? What's your hurry? That's just your style.

Nice. Make friends often?

Maybe he's too busy working on bikes to fiddle with stupid websites....

Stupid websites? Well my friend that says it all. Could the work on the bikes be of a similar quality?

Kinda like the fat girl at the dance.

I guess our forum isn't immune to trolls.

Shall we agree not to feed him?

You mean leech? Like leeching off of this really great site.

The gentlemanly thing to do is keep contests within this Access Norton community which we all enjoy and not poach them away to dumpy pre-beta sites. To me that is a Troll. And a Leech. And advertising your business in a site should be with the express consent and approval of the gracious host, which may or may not be the case here.

I think somebody needs a time-out.

I'm doing this virtual show GRATIS, because I love old bikes. I'm not selling ANYTHING with this, and even the entry is free.

Get a grip.

...and a clue.

Gentlemen, I think this thread has wandered too far off topic....so I have closed it down.
