The front brake noise associated with the 74 wiper mod

I have a 73 with a lot of very slow speed front brake noise. I am trying to get a sense for what the noise was that Norton was trying to remedy with their 74 wiper mod to see if that is the same noise I am having. My noise is a squeaking and seems like twice every rev of the wheel (thereby disc). The motor drowns it out except for starting out and stopping. It is fairly loud and annoying and I don't hear other bikes doing it. The disk was ground and drilled a few years ago but I don't believe I have ever braked hard enough to warp the disk and if I have, it is way too fragile.

Check it with a dial gauge, the drilling may have caused it to warp or the combination of drilling and heating by hard braking could have done the job. Are the fixing bolts tight?

The very bottom of the caliper should have a steel rock shield attached with 2 tiny screws. The shield "wings" normally span out about 1/32 inch on either side of the rotor, but if a screw comes loose or the shield gets bent it could contact the rotor and make a nasty squeal.

AMHIK

edit: Is that what you refer to as the wiper mod?

Jean, what would you expect the run out to be if OK or not OK?

I have never needed to check a disk before, but I would expect as close to zero as possible, I can usually true a spoked wheel at less than 0.005" so in my mind a disk, especially for a motorcycle should be less than that.

I have a brand new front rotor and pads on my MKII and I get a squeal when pushing the bike but not when riding. Tapping the brake lever a couple times sometimes makes it quiet, sometimes not. I figure that it'll go away eventually.

Mine has gotten worse with time.

Have you tried the traditional remedies? The usual cleaning pad faces and disc, adding anti squeal, and rounding the edge of the pad material?

My brake noise is not happening when I apply the brakes. Instead, my brake noise is a churp churp (but annoyingly loud) twice every wheel rev when rolling. It can only be heard under 5 mph because the motor drowns it out any other time.

That is also applicable to the remedies I mention if it isn't a warped disc or something rubbing, both of which Ive seen.
What can happen is deposits of melted brake pad can end up on the rotor, if you are lucky a good cleaning can remove them.
I'd check for runout first as cleaning is a waste of time otherwise.
