I’ve come up with a few options and want to go for a lead/acid type rather than Lithium like I have in my own on the owners instructions to me. What suggestions do you have?

Yuasa YB7L-B. or Motobatt MB9U seem to be the obvious choice.

I have a motobatt mbx 12u 14ah in my t160

YB7L and Mb9u are too small ( not enough CCa) I have MBTX 12U on one and the other has Yuasa YTX14L-BS , both AGM and start the bikes easily

Excellent feedback guys. Now I need to convince the owner - he who knows every-flippin-thing not to just use the Exide version, because he’s an Exide stockist. For the moment I’ve crammed in a Yuasa YB16LB, that I know will not be of use as it is too tall with a side cover fitted.

If you read this. what spark plugs? It’s got Champion N3C fitted I want to change. I thought the NGK equivalent was B8ES. I’ve just checked mine which has B7ES fitted. Help!!!!!!

N3C is also equivalent to B7ES although B8ES would be the correct NGK for a T160 as far as I'm aware.

"TRIUMPH PRE-1989 T150/160 Trident (Incl. BSA, A75 and Rocket 3) 750cc / 69→75 / B8ES

Standard Copper Core B8ES 2411 0.6 mm

Iridium BR8EIX 5044 0.6 mm"

Currently, I have NGK B8EVX but that plug is obsolete (replaced by BR8EIX).

I’ll pick up a half dozen NGK when I pick him up at his work tomorrow as he’s also a NGK dealer. Cheaper that way and no fake ones

I find myself in need of a battery for my t160 as the motobatt has given up rather suddenly
Is the yuasa ytx14l-bs still a good choice? Anything out there better?

I've had a couple of not very old Motobatts fail so have gone back to Yuasa where I can, I find the YTX14L-bs an excellent choice

I buy Varta batteries wherever possible.
I had a varta in my commando as recommended when I fitted the Alton starter
It barely lasted a year from memory
That really put me off of vartas

Wow, that's surprizing. I've never had an issue with them. Got one in my Commando, and I can leave it for months without charging, and it will still spin the Alton and start.

I popped an oh-so-popular ETX20 straight in mine.

Interchanges with a lot of my modern equipment.
