Stuck caliper pistons - retracted

Just ran into this headache this eve. I figured it out over a few hours time. Finally, I started with the pistons pushed in just far enough to fit the pads and push it over the disc. And that is the ticket....I wasted a good 3 evenings fighting this on a MK3 rear brake.

I hope you meant to type "SILICONE grease instead of brake fluid".... if you used petrol based grease, you get to do it over again, new seals.
It would swell the seals.

I used to work at an auto supply business. A customer came in with a large piece of rubber which used to be the seal for the lid on the master cylinder of his daughters car. the moment I saw it I knew what had happened, someone had used ATF instead of brake fluid. I sold him a new master cylinder and told him to drain the entire system and flush it with brake fluid. He mentioned killing his daughters boyfriend!
