Our weather people have claimed that if Melbourne reaches it's highest predicted temperature tomorrow, we will have our coldest April day for 35 years.

We have had the warmest month on record ,and very dry for April. But Trump says its not happening, so its all good.

Well if Blighty had the hottest April on record and Oz had the coldest, then on balance, Trump is right ...?!

Al you should move up to Queensland as we are having some great warm weather up here and our night temps still great, but we will be getting down to 9c Saturday and Sunday night before returning back to 18c for our night temps for this time of year, our day temps are still up at 29c and only a month to go for out Winter.
Just remembered our state border is still close with this lock down.

There is no need for this thread to get political.

The very large group of scientists that actually work with FACTS all agree that the Earth's temperature has fluctuated for as long as they can determine from fossils, core samples, ice cores, etc.

As marvelous as the Earth's orbit is around the sun, it is in no way an exactly perfect circle.

The sun has "hot" years, "cold" year, and everything in between.

THE TEMPERATURE WILL ALWAYS BE CHANGING.

Get over it, or move to a better planet.

We got almost half a foot of snow yesterday and through the night , covered freshly raked, limed lawns and they put salt out ! ..... strange weather in deed ! not happy with snow this time of year at all , been out on bikes the past couple weeks , now got to wait for salt to go away again ...

3 inches of snow at my place Monday morning, today it's almost 70. Don't like the weather in New England? wait a moment and it will change.

The arguments against "global warming" or more properly "climate change" have faded as the science has pretty much beat the flat-earth believers over the head with facts. Cities along seacoasts are preparing for high water. The only debate is; Do man's activities contribute to climate change or are we all just at the mercy of a fickle Mother Nature? The two sides to that question are what's currently falling on political sides. At the jist of this argument are the more basic questions; what, if anything can or should be done about it and who's going to do it/pay for it?

Agreed, no sense getting political about a scientific issue.

Especially when said issue has 99% support amongst the experts in it's field.

I’m glad when we bought our retirement home we decided on moving up to “foundry hill” one of older new parts of town (former farm land and of course site of original foundry) we are about 420 ft above the river that runs through original town proper and that suits us fine , except walking up this damn hill , from farmers market .... good news our snow is pretty much gone and only 8C with a stiff breeze

The change in the weather started yesterday morning with heavy rain and flooding in some parts of our town. Our farmers are happy. It has not rained like this for 12 years. It gives them the confidence to plant crops.
I would not have thought that a drastic reduction in the use of fossil fuels would bring a change in the short term.

What evidence is there that points to a reduction of fuel burning for the change?

We are getting a Polar blast over the Southern States of Australia in the next day or so one of the reasons for the cold snap and a Westly wind blow which will also make its way to us S.E Queenslanders, but I enjoy our cold winter weather up here it beats riding and cooking your brains in our hot summers we get.

Amen to that GP. Nice blow this morning too. Kinda gave me a late start on the Keihin wrestling match which is thankfully over.

It's been said about this vicinity for years; if you don't like the weather, wait a minute and it'll change. That being said, winters have become progressively warmer in my recollection. Great for me, not so good for those down south who have to put up with the heat. I remember riding into Little Rock a few years ago and my breath inside a closed helmet felt like a/c compared to the outside temp. Tulsa was hotter than hades also. I am used to high humidity and occasional triple digit thermometer readings, so it's not like I'm a northerner who can't stand the heat. It's getting hot in here....

Last year when my riding partner and I arrived at the AHRMA pits in Topeka, the first thing my racer friend said was, "Welcome to Texas!" It was brutal on the blacktop.

So far its been very warm and dry for April. Interesting to read the wide variety of climate our Nortons are ridden in..

It's a local humor thing Craig.... We've already rolled into high heat season with next in line being higher heat with extra humidity... It didn't freeze this year either on the coast and barely touched 32F last year.
I sometimes miss snow.... The kind which falls straight down not the sideways kind going 70 knots in the Bering Sea though.... and your trees & mountains.
