Well I started the clean up yesterday going to put a hold on the train layout for a few days, cleaned the area under the open awning beside the snooker table, moved the BBQ table out from under there to outside, put away all the mess and cleaned the concrete, then pulled the lift table out from under the snooker table ready for the Norton to be put up on it.

Today got to pull the Norton out of the shed but before I put it up on the lift table I going to drain the sump and drain the fuel tank put some fresh fuel in it and see if I can kick start it using my peg leg, if I fire it up I got to see if I can ride it before I start with the electric start kit, got to see if I be able to change gears with my peg leg/foot.

Got to do some repairs to the lift table as well, bloody cheap Chinese lift table pumps, the seals are losing pressure just when I get the table up to the highest setting it loses pressure, I always use the locking bar when I have a load on the table but these cheap jacks are rubbish, I will top the oil up first and down the road will remove the jack and rebuild it with new seals or replace with a better jack.

Well now rehab is all done with I need to get on with getting back on the Norton, 9 months in 5 days time is too long without being on 2 wheels but even after getting it all together with the install I still have to prove to others I can still ride, the B S amputees have to go through, but I passed with flying colours with the car driving, be the same with the bikes. my poor old Honda dirt bike is also collecting dust, not sure what I be doing with that yet, think my days of playing the dirt might be over, but then you never know.

Good luck. I find getting a heavier bike up on the lift a bit of a challenge these days. Worth getting a mate in to steady things at first perhaps. Great to work on once it's up.

As I said earlier I fitted a CNW starter about 6 years ago. Very good instructions but make sure you lay the wiring very carefully because there's not a cm to spare. Matt says it's not necessary to have an adjuster both sides for the belt but I did add one based on my racing experience where I found perfect alignment to be essential for belt longevity.

I already have 2 adjusters as I ran a RGM belt drive for just over 3 years before I started having troubles with it, even with 2 adjuster my belt was wearing the open side of the belt trying to run off the front pully, no matter how much I tried to adjust it, the teeth on the belts where good but wore the side of the belt down, in the end it shattered the holding plate, but this time I will make sure the 2 shafts are aligned better before putting the kit on, something wasn't right but it ran 3 years before I had troubles with the belts.

My Norton is light and I never had problems running it up on the lift table by myself but that was when I had 2 normal legs I will get a mate to help me run it up, but waiting for the mates to help put me off asking them, I always drop everything when they need a hand but they are slow to return the favor, they always seem the be busy, but I have a good memory, my mate only lives down the hill 2 houses up where we had our accident, I have known him for most of my life and I have helped him a many times in, but always got to get him before lunch time before he has a drink or 2, think he has a drinking problem ;) 🤪

You may have to play with the adjuster location to get around the starter. I actually punched numbers on the adjuster nut flats so I could count them from above. And tighten via a long socket extension from the back.

Never had any luck with an RGM belt on the race bike but a Bob Newby belt and clutch worked fine.

Pretty lucky with most of my mates but most are getting as slow as I am. Closest just had a pacemaker put in so he is on light duties for a while. The other good mate is shaky on his feet and more likely to hinder than help. All a bit sad really because both were very competitive classic bike riders 30 years ago.
