Hi.
With the original 1969 electrical system with ammeter, happened that the right spark plug (champion N7YC) after some miles brocke the terminal where the lead connects!!!
I think it was a bed spark plug or Can It??
What should I do?
Thank you.

Re: Spark plug breaks the pin

Do you mean the electrode inside the engine or the top where the HT lead connects.

Possibly a bad plug, but I'd think it may be more likely that the inside of the socket contacted the insulator while the plug was being torqued down. It's not too difficult to have a break in the ceramic at the top of the steel shell as they can't tolerate much side pressure. It can then go unnoticed until engine vibration finally shakes it loose.

Does your spark plug socket have its internal rubber sleeve intact? This not only makes it easier to remove and install the plug by holding it into the socket, but also helps avoid the broken ceramic issues.

champion N7YC

Of all the spark plugs the Champion is one of the strongest between the ceramic and the bottom hexogen thread as inside it is a radius, unlike others. The top thread connector is however very weak, like on all spark plugs, which is why they went to those “snap on caps”
