Solihull is back in business?

Thing is the Chinese have the better end of the stick, there is no doubt the 961 sold well, looks nice, so why wouldn't it now. If the Chinese sort out the reliability they'll have a bike that will sell with a nice margin. Garner crap or a Chinese reliable copy, I know what I would buy.

The Chinese aren’t generally well known for making BETTER copies of the original though are they ?

Since we're on the topic of possible Asian production of the 961:
What in hell happened to the new Mahendra BSA 750 that was planned?

The CCP are anti motorcycle, see them as a throw back to 3rd world economy, so any Chinese motorcycle company doing well is doing it on its own.

So basically no 650

That doesn't bode well.

Coincidentally I just emailed them and asked if there was any update on the spares situation.

“It’s an exciting time to be following Norton’s journey”…

Thats a bit f***ing rich isn’t it?

How do you follow NOTHING…..?! Cos that’s all they’re giving us currently.

I’d say the 650s still have a chance. BUT the trouble is, by 2023 they’ll already be 5 years old. Legal requirements and the competition will have moved on.

The longer they take to decide on any model, makes it more likely that it will likely never materialize.
At the rate that the enviro-nazis are pushing government bureaucrats to ban production of ICE vehicles, it may be impossible to produce any new ICE powered bikes, or cars.

Fight back in the only language they understand: Glue your head to the factory gates!!

(Hope that doesn't get lost in translation)

The release is an absolute joke and leaves them wide open globally. Not checked lately, but seems they are waiting on the outcome of the Thomas Norton Court case in the USA. Lose that and its curtains for them, as they will not be able to defend what they spent a stupid amount of money on.
It sounds like crap to me from a company that intends to make profit from licensing - check TVS Motor website, had plans to make top end bikes and go racing, now has nothing is a joke. They even bought a unit for production, but didn't even know if was big enough to suit as they had no plan it seems.
Between the Chinese licences, Ford and TATA and some layman in the USA whose logo is a boat like Noahs with animals poking their heads over top, that offended Norton, uggests they are fed up with policing the TM and will be looking to offload it.

Hate to say it, but at least Garner had a plan. I suspect he is now laughing his arse off that they have been ripped off.

To be honest, is it surprising that the Atlas/Ranger is in doubt....it's engine shares a hell of a lot of V4 parts, the same V4 model that TVS have wiped their hands of and left the owners out to dry?
Chinese involvement with the 961 aint a bad thing. A lot of the engine components were sourced from Taiwan anyhow.....and those parts rarely gave problems. Most of the problems cMe from the parts made or assembled in the UK, which is a shame to say.

Well it’s a fact that I won’t now buy another new Norton. Perhaps that KTM superduke or another Ducati is in my future.
As big of a shit bag Stuart Scammer was, at least he provided a product that could be bought. And he had a dream, it’s just a shame that dream for him became a nightmare for the ones he stole from.

If he didn’t do the criminal crimes he did, we’d be seeing the Atlas, 650 and V4 bikes today.
What a bad joke this all became.

As far as the “new” China owned 961 motor, no thanks, I’ll pass.

Stu,
Correct, but it's not the fact the Atlas range are looking like they will be dropped, it is the fact they have had all this time and clearly don't really have any plans. They should have had plans prior to the purchase, and when you read the past statements form the number of directors they have had, ''they were looking for a name to buy'' it's not smoke and mirrors, it sounds like an episode of the chuckle brothers!!
