Thanks Eddie! I appreciate the encouragement from you and Kiwi!

I have a good friend that wants to buy my old OEM tach/speedo - I was planning to say "yes," but now I think I'll say, "Wait until I have the new ones on/operating properly and then we'll talk!" ;)

Doing anything other would be tempting fate...

And yer don’t wanna be doing that...!

Installed Smith's electric instruments using this wiring diagram http://www.puca.co/images/Smiths-A4-wiring2.jpg
All went well but speedo would not count rear wheel revolutions in Drive to Set mode. Was using Daytona 3 wire sender. Stock sender wasn't working, found out it needed an extension on the square cable drive. Still no indication to speedometer. Replaced Daytona with a 2 wire sender from Andover part # 06.7904/e still no indication. Took square brass drive extension from Daytona and put on the 2 wire sender, success at last. Did set PPU at 800 but don't know if that was necessary or not. Also this is on a MK3 speedometer gearbox.

I gave up on the MK 111 and Derek Wilson set it up right for me. Still don't understand the calibrations so I don't go there. Instructions a fuzzy nightmare cheapo photocopy. Yes they let in water.

After getting the calibration correct, the speedo is working beautifully and love the smooth needles.

If the water is coming in via the Bezel, the recent post on how to do it on a lathe whilst putting pressure on the glass to make the rubber seal work is worth a look.

Do you have a link to this post? I am not having any luck searching for it. Thanks!
