Small fairing for touring

Anybody have any pics of their bike with a small fairing? I’m selling my cb750 which has been my main highway bike for years, and it has a small fairing, just enough to break the wind. Is there such a thing for a Norton? Easily removable preferably. Not looking for the big swoopy dunstall style or John player hugeness, just a lil sumphin to break the wind. May the fart jokes commence-

Small fairings often disrupt the air, creating turbulence right where you sit.

With no fairing, although you are riding into air, it is still air.

I’ve heard reviewers talk about this many times and not really thought much about it. Then, in recent years, I’ve ridden a few types of adventure bikes, all of which had small fairings and medium screens. They were all freakin’ horrible, with far worse buffeting and wind noise compared to riding with nothing.

Yes, they would all reduce the rain hammering into the torso, and thus be better at keeping one dry in such conditions. But for me, the trade off in terms of buffeting wasn’t worth it.

My mate has something like this on his Bonneville:
No difference to wind around his helmet, but relieves pressure on his body.

I rode the CB without for a lot of years but found that for longer freeway type trips (80mph for hours) it really helps out with the fatigue to the upper body. You’re right though, no difference on noise / buffeting. I ride with earplugs full time now anyhow. Gotta keep what little hearing I have anymore

This is intriguing! Every one I’ve seen lately clamps on the bars, but I like the idea of hooking to the headlamp ears

I have this exact wind screen on my 71 Roadster. It works very well and looks great. It's on the bike 10 mos. out the year. I'll switch off to the basic Emgo bikini fairing when the weather cools down in FL....(meaning 65-70 degrees)

I fitted a Rickman Honda C90 handlebar fairing to my 750 Commando fully expecting it to be dangerous but it was quite the opposite. Holding full throttle at around 110mph for several miles I found it very safe and even seemed to provide some degree of self centring to the steering. I tried to induce some weaving without success- the bike just stayed very stable. It does need to be well attached.

Why not remove the fairing from the Honda prior to sale?

Or buy the same version for the Nort?

The one on the Honda is kinda hideous on the Norton- it hooks to the bars and the Norton has a lot more space between the front of the clocks and the bars than the Honda did. Plus once you sell one you gotta buy something before the money disappears into the mist!

Fairing you say???

Here's bagless, with the quick release bags removed and just the custom made Givi frames. The windshield has 3" cut off the center and 2" off the sides. It stuck back too far into my face. I often think I should knock off another inch or more. As was mentioned there's still some turbulence and wind noise when you sit up straight, but if you duck down, you get into the wind and noise shadow and the engine sounds incredible and there's no buffeting. It's great for passing on the highway.



The streamlined Givi bags and the dunstall fairing together... shown below. Of course, my bike looks different than your average commando with the custom seat and cast alu wheels. If you want coverage without laying down on the tank, then forget any of the bikini fairings. They don't do anything unless you duck down behind them, and who wants to ride around in that position all the time? If you mount an actual touring fairing on your sport bike, then you kill the whole point of having a sport bike rather than a cruiser. They are just too big for a sport bike IMO. My answer was to cut down the windshield. It does help cut the wind on your chest on the highway, but it also limits the swing of the handlebars too. I actually added some yoke stops on the fairing's yoke plate to limit the swing of the handlebars...



Probably not what you want, given your description, but sometimes part of research is seeing everything. The things you want and the things you don't want....

I have screens on my commando and trident
They are both made by puig
I've got a neck injury and I like riding at 90 mph so I have to have a screen although I dislike screens
