Side stand stud

Hi everybody
I'm fitting the primary trasmission to my 72 commando
But if i put the inner chaincase in place i won't be able to put fit the side stand! Or am i wrong?
The side stand stud must be positioned with the head upside or down? Hope you could understand what i mean...

Just looked at my MK2a, the bolt comes up from below and the nut goes on top. I use a nyloc nut and also a spring washer. Not a nut you want to come loose.

Yes, the nut (nyloc) goes on top.
