Any recommendations for shipping an engine from Las Vegas NV to Blaine WA?

Thanks
Well I've been out of the trucking and shipping game for quite some time, but I would say build a plywood box yourself with hand holds and runners on either side so a small hand truck or dolly could be placed under it easily when they are taking delivery of it. You might try the big two first, Fedex, UPS. The post office will take up to seventy pounds if I'm not mistaken. List it as machine parts if you will. Next you can try the "over the road" shippers like overnight and ??? JBL perhaps. You might also try greyhound bus company, years ago when I was just starting college I worked for a small airplane engine rebuilding company and one of my duties was to go to the bus station to get the lycoming and continental piston engine cylinders and associated parts and hardware, also had to stock the parts bins and sweep up the hangar floor but that is another story altogether :D

I'd make something like this in plywood. The top rails are removable so you can just lift the motor out. I made one for shipping my frame.

I've shipped nearly 20 engines packed in large industrial plastic bins lined with 1/4" plywood in the bottom and packed with stiff foam. Drill and zip-tie the lid in place, 3 or 4 ties to a side.

FedEx ground is the most economical solution for a reasonably quick delivery.

Typically around $100.
