several questions - OE spark plug wires

I do like the looks of the Champion plug caps but just hope you don't get caught in the rain. (Didn't someone on this forum mention that the goal is to look good?) Those green wires gotta go though.

RAIN??? - that's why the gods created dielectric grease. besides, at my age, I don't play in the rain anymore. as for the green wires, that was part of this exercise in the first place. granted, these are pretty much old school technology. never comfortable with carbon impregnated fiber core/spiral wound stuff, but it seems to take termination OK. the whole point of this was to see what I could come up with in keeping with the OE look. BUT, the first signs of trouble, it's back to the good old Packard 440 copper core - ;)

Received my 1 meter of 7mm Spark Plug HT Ignition Lead Cable Wire Copper Core PVC Green Car Motorcycle from The Green Spark Plug.
New Champion caps from eBay source UK.

Now i wont be embarrassed to park at local coffee shop and be questioned about my spark wires.

I am running TriSpark with resistor plugs.

I also found the old right spark wire had rubbed the outer rubber off down to the carbon mix core...good time to replace with green.

I gave up on plug caps with rubber seals a long time ago, because they retain moisture.

YEP! Most seals that claim to "prevent" water from getting in work much much better at preventing it from getting OUT! :) In any case, an ignition system in good condition has no trouble at all with getting wet.

nice! I bought the same wire. although I like the fact that it was copper core, I didn't like the fact it was PVC - personally, a little too stiff for my liking. I did find more flexible wire, but it was carbon core, resistive from a MG car parts vendor, so a little compromise. it does terminate differently - like the originals, old school, but still works OK. since the wires are resistive, i'm back to straight copper core plugs. for some reason (unknown to me), I find straight copper's run a bit cooler than their equivalent resistive counterparts. what did you do for coil boots - they look like they angle out a bit. perfect!

Coil boots came from a friends old inventory, no source for more, just luck on my part.

Because I am worried about future rubbed spark wires, I am adding some 1/2" long, split hose bushes where i have concerns, one on each wire.

i agree - need to keep ignition system pieces/parts in good operating condition. plugs wires still need periodic preventative maintenance - basically cleaning the crud off of them every once in a while is a must. when assembling plug wires, dielectric grease helps to keep things resistive to the elements. rubber seals and such make components water RESISTANT not water proof.

same thing - I cut a piece of 1/4" rubber vacuum tubing, about an inch long and a cut length wise. I slid it over the wire in proximity to the head steady mounting bracket hardware
