My factory supplied Owners Manual says to do it the way the note is written. Perhaps (perhaps means maybe ... I do not know for sure) soldering may score pickup track. Edit: 4.29.20 after giving this issue more thought, I retract the notion the pickup tract might be scored ..... not possible as there is a contact post between the track and the wire with brass washer. Perhaps the reason is solder flows when under pressure from a screw. Thus the joint will loosen over time.Slick
