My father passed along his 750 Commando to me. He had it complete restored 25 years ago and it has sat for over 15 years likely. Trying to do research on it and can not locate the frame serial number. There is nothing visible on the head tube and no riveted plate either.....

The engine number appears to be 230694 which would place it as a Mark V 1973. I have no paper work on the bike and my dad's memory is fading.....

He "thought" it was a 1971 or 72 but admitted he can't recall.

Does this put into question the legitimacy of this bike for value and re-sale?

The bike "appears" to be in great condition and was sorted out when stored, and trying to decide if I should get it running prior to a possible putting it up for sale versus "as is".

Thank you in advance for any help or direction.

There would have been a riveted plate with a matching 6-digit serial number and usually a date stamp.

Yes.

If in USA there are more friendly Norton people then you think, save yourself a lot of head aches and find one to do the needed minor repairs to get it running. Don't know your location but ask on forum and someone will be recommended. Good luck

Thought that number looked familiar . . mine is 230693 - the one built immediately before yours !

A 750 Mark 5 Roadster (originally blue) built in Autumn 1972 for the 73 model year. It has an unusual bowed cross tube bracing the two down tubes immediately in front of the engine which might've been from a repair of from racing ?? Any info you dig up on yours - interested to hear

The cross piece was a popular mod 10-15 yrs ago. It was done because the front downtubes are like spaghetti.
