I

um

kinda

think

I

may

have

figured it out.

Ya know that tiny little oz. of Amsoil two stroke oil I dump in the gas? (oh wait, I hadn't told you guys) Guess where it dribbles down while tickling? My hypothesis is the lubed o-ring doesn't hold nearly as well as the DRY one...

Maybe somebody swapped them out with their old ones while you weren't looking?

Try using less 2 stroke oil in the fuel each fillup ? I typically add only 5 or so drops per premium fill up and the carb. o-rings stay put.

Like Wyle E. Coyote with the nitro glycerin dropper?

I am with Deet55 on this one, I use a red pearlesence nail polish on the mixture screws, just a dab (after setting) on the screw and carb body, it dries quick, is easy to see, is an indicator to see if it has moved, it is easily removed with a wipe of acetone.
I use the same nail polish for my timing marks on the cases and rotor/sprocket for my race and road bike, shows up a treat with the timing light, also on the carb to manifold to head bolts and screws, as an indicator to see if things have come loose.
Small bottle lasts for ever!!
Regards Mike

You use the 2smoke oil to protect your valves?

Try a 6-8 ounces of 110 or 100 Low Lead avgas or a similar measure of VP racing fuel every other tank, or every tank if you like to boogie.

B.

I lost an idle speed screw one time. It had been 34 years since it was last touched so new screw and O-rings fitted all round. No probs. now.
What's with the 2 stroke oil. those valves and seats are high quality and should not wear out. Shit, I never have to touch my valve adjustments, and they are always a little looser than spec when I occasionally check them. [ Its always the ignition that gets me going, bad earths or those breaking wires down in the boyer area.}
Viton???? a recent thread suggested alcohol was not good with Viton.

I keep Avgas on hand, use it for storage. Run in my 9:1 plodder engine, it's really not needed, pump premium USUALLY doesn't ping audibly.
